Couldn’t stand the writing. Dialogue is cringy, fmc won’t shut up about how hot every male character is, and for some reason she’s in heels and dressed to go clubbing in every scene

I cannot believe that I waited so long to read this book! This book was AMAZING and so much more than I thought it would be. It took everything in me to put this book down because it was THAT GOOD.

Samkiel is EVERYTHING. 10/10 no notes or critiques. He is just absolutely perfect and I adore everything about him. The pain that he holds every day from his past and the things he's been through.. absolutely horrible. He is one of my new favorites and I just love him so deeply.

Dianna is such a BADASS. I absolutely love her and respect her so deeply. She has been through hell to protect the one person in her life that she loves. I genuinely that respect that so much and want her to be happy. She deserves it no matter how many horrible things she does.

THAT ENDING?!? MY HEART WAS RIPPED OUT OF MY CHEST. There is no freaking way that happened for real and I do not know what the future has in store for this story. My heart breaks for Dianna and Gabby. And for Logan if this plays out the way I think it might.

I LOVED Drake and now I am not so sure... I genuinely loved him and thought that he cared about Dianna and Gabby. I have a hard time believing that he actually betrayed her to Kaden. I really hope that it's not true and there was an actual reason he did it. I don't know, this is horrible.

100/10 absolutely exhilarating, heartbreaking, and beautiful.

"A voice I couldn’t ignore quietly insisted that she was what I had been missing. It’s her. It’s her. It’s her."

"I was as selfish and weak as they claimed, because I hadn’t brought her back for the world, or even for her. I brought her back because I didn’t think I could exist without her."

this book surprised me. i didn’t go into it expecting it to be bad per se, it just had different approaches to tropes and character archetypes i’d unfortunately grown accustomed to being one specific way.

*cue kombucha meme*

she was the badass fmc who crushed skulls and set rooms ablaze, but also just a girl craving normalcy. he was the broody mmc who sealed realms and rebuilt planets while secretly suffering from mental illnesses. there was one bed but it was shared between two non-humans expressing their humanity.

i guess you could say it did the bare minimum? regardless it was refreshing.

900+ pages is way too much thou 😭. it also kept bouncing between past and present tense which was rlly annoying and took me out of the story a lot.

The banter had me cackling. I ate up every second of this slow burn. Boo hoo cried at this ending. Foaming at the mouth for the next book.

Really didn’t enjoy this unfortunately. The storyline was good but it was ruined by the 2 mains characters. I felt like any potential mystery or tension was destroyed by having both their points of view. They say everything so literally as well, there’s no subtlety to the writing.

Major spoilers below
Liam was insufferable throughout, was so incapable of understanding his feelings he had no emotional intelligence. Dianna was better, but went downhill the more time she spent with him. When we discover that Liam destroyed the planet DELIBERATELY and Diana is upset for about half a second before she’s fine with it and thinking about fucking him. Later on in the book he calls her horrible things and blames the upcoming war on her being there because she’s a “parasite” and “infection” and has gotten under his skin, and all she said was “you’re right”, if I had been reading a book instead of listening I’d have thrown it across the room at that point. The whole relationship is disgustingly toxic, not to mention the fucked up lover/enemy/therapist role Diana takes on in Liam’s life. I’m glad it’s over, I only finished it so I could add it to my reading challenge for this year.

Het boek is heel vermakelijk. Er gebueren veel dingen maar deze zijn heel logisch. Het blijft je focus houden.
