Average. I don’t think horror graphic novels are really my thing, but I liked the concept of all the keys. This definitely kept me interested.

Brilliantly constructed, but read with caution. It’s very violent with significant gore. The horror aspect should be obvious from the title alone, but it’s more horror and tragedy than frightening. One of the main antagonists being a teenager is disconcerting though it fits the plot and characterization. He’s very much a tragedy all on his own.

I love Locke & Key, and it's hard to imagine a stronger start. We begin with
an incredibly traumatic experience
and have nothing but instant empathy for the Locke family, all of whom are well-written and feel like real people as they struggle with the fallout of
their father's violent murder
. The plot of this volume is kind of a slow burn, and
the arch-antagonist takes a back seat
. I love the way Joe Hill writes his villains - they're uncompromising, truly nasty pieces of work. The underlying mythology of the series, though not as fully developed as it will be later, is intriguing.

I can see Gabriel Rodriguez's art style being divisive, but I'm fully on board. It's stylized, incredibly detailed, and does a great job supporting the story.

This is a classic now in the comic world. I wanted to read it because I knew it was based on Lofcraft world and my friends love the author and the comic world, so I wanted to explore this comic better. I liked it and enjoyed...and I love that the things are not explained to the reader...you have the puzzle and you have to put the pieces together.

It is true that I wanted to be more scared but I want to read more.
