When I was first reading the description and reviews of this book I thought it had potential to be good. Then when I was about to start reading it I had second thoughts and wondered if it was going to be juvenile. When I finished reading it I was blown away by how crazy enjoyable the experience of reading it had been. Lots of revelations, none cheesy or predictable in my opinion, insight into a pretty flawed and damaged protagonist, real life insecurities and issues that a lot of people face. The protaganist has a lot of demons and, as aforementioned, is very flawed. But there is always this glimmer of a better person, a person who knows her life could be different that is waiting beneath the surface. I was on the edge of my seat the whole book waiting to see which version of the protagonist would win out. I highly recommend you find out for yourself!
slow-paced

Ani has it all and is preparing for her wedding to the perfect man. But she is haunted by her past, and must revisit it when asked to take part in a documentary project. Lots of tough topics in this.

Wasn't a fan. I felt sympathy for the main character but also made me cringe to the extreme a lot of the time. Not one I would read or pick up even again.

Dark but good. Need to be in a mood for something devastating.

I thought I'd hate the lead character. I didn't. Enjoyed this story.

If you liked Gone Girl, you’ll like this.

A compelling read. So many stories vying for some time, maybe too many stories. Character development suffers, you meet a lot but get to know few.

Not what I was expecting. The book was ok, kept my interest but I didn't particularly care for where the story ended up. I'd read a book by this author again though. I liked the cadence and the way she weaved past and present fairly seemlessly.

I liked this book, but I do have to say that I wasn't too impressed for about the first 3/4 of the book. I know. That's a lot that I wasn't impressed with. It touched on some heavy and disturbing material, but I didn't really know where it was going. The MC for the most part just sounded over the top bitchy and annoying. The last quarter of the book, it really took off and completely held my interest and all the pieces came together of why the MC was the way that she was.

A lot of it brought back memories of high school and I just remembered how brutal kids that age can be. I was able to connect with the MC in that way. I couldn't really connect with the adult version of her because she was just so mean.

I wanted to like this book more, but like I said, I wasn't really a fan of a good majority of the book.
