How short the individual stories are is both a plus and a minus of this book. Sometimes I felt lost in all the people and facts mentioned because they were described so briefly but also most of the anecdotes work really well as separate pieces rather than trying to stitch then together.

Not quite what I had pictured when I ordered it but very delightful, funny and an easy read.
  • It is not really essays about anxiety. It is is more of the impetus for the book than the theme
  • That being said, her writing is very relatable and human. She is honest and the topics are wide ranging. The length keeps it from ever being boring
  • Good for readers who like short stories/snippets and aren’t afraid of the use dark humor to write about hard things

After a counselling session where she finds herself lost for words, Georgia Pritchett follows her therapist's advice and starts writing. And we're very grateful she did.
A born worrier (are the monsters under the bed comfortable enough?), she recounts her life with anxiety, told in little vignettes, starting from early childhood into her adult years.
She talks about her childhood and adorably quirky family, her struggles at work in an industry that used to shut down women (when we still seriously asked if women could be funny), the challenges of conception and motherhood, raising neurodiverse children, anxiety, depression, and everything in between. It is endearing and intimate, incredibly funny with perfect comedic timing, and sometimes emotional.
It made me laugh out loud many times (in public), and cry (also in public) and I loved every bit of it.

Kuddos to the narrator for her great work too. I definitely recommend the audiobook
