To begin with, there's a lot of parallel things with this 2nd book and 1st book. A lot of similarities that MCs experienced. Gosh, I really thought I already know who is the culprit. But every time my hunch was getting stronger thats when some truths came out. For me, its okay to understand where these criminals coming from but its not okay to excuse the things they did. Sometimes seeing their own perpetrators inside jail isn't enough. That's when they create their own brand of justice. No matter how twisted it is. And also the environment they grew up too. That's why should not procreate if you can't give your child the things they deserve. Life is not just about white and black. There are also lots of gray areas. What an amazing masterpiece. Kudos, Author❤

This wasn't easy read because of the twisted people, but story was very interesting.

Reed is a detective with the Cincinnati PD and one night out with fellow officers celebrating he runs into a beautiful woman at the bar. They hit it off and she invites herself back to his place where they have a glorious night together. He keeps telling her that he wants more and doesn't want this to be a one night stand but when he wakes in the morning she is gone. Two weeks later he shows to a crime scene to find that the person who found the dead body is his girl, Dr. Elizabeth Nolan aka Liza.

This book can be read as a standalone but it is better to read Where The Blame Lies first. That is Reed's mother's story and it gives you so much background into this one that I recommend that one first. And it was amazing so there is that. Reed is such an amazing guy. I really loved the relationships that he created, how amazing his heart was and how he always went above and beyond to prove that he is not his creator. I loved how he respected Liza and her issues but never treated her with kids gloves and let her decide how they were going to go forward. This book also gave me the justice that I was disappointed I didn't get in book one so that made me happy. Overall this was a good book that I enjoyed, it just seemed to drag on forever. But if you read Where The Blames Lies you will really enjoy this book.

Really loved the conclusion to this story. Lots of twists and drama. Kept me reading late into the night!!!

Good idea to read previous book first.
Non man-whore Hero despite having a ONS at the start, it's a unusual thing for him to do.
Some detail of violent acts and mention of abuse.
No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine.
HEA.

4.5 Stars. Mia blows me away every time with her romantic suspense. There are so many books that I read that I can see the plot coming a mile away, but this series has continued to surprise me. Reed is Josie's son from the first book. The setting of this is 28 years later and you see Josie, Zach and a glimpse of their family in this book. It's fascinating to see how Reed grew up and what he has overcome.
Liza is the heroine in this story and she had more than her fair share of demons. She has a past that is dark and violent. She doesn't believe she is strong but Reed sees her strength and recognizes it. He has seen strength like that before, his mother. The two of them work together to hunt down a serial killer.
At some points you think you know what is happening and then you are thrown curve balls. It is an amazing ending to this story. It has redemption and an epic conclusion. This series is one of my favorite romantic suspense.
