Ooooooooof what a ride!!!!
I think I preferred book one a smidge more (there's only so much "Cylvan is perfect and I don't deserve him so I'll sacrifice my health, happiness and life for him even though he's a powerful fey and the future king and he should be the one protecting me instead and also grovelling because he's a royal douchebag" I can take š) but I love this universe and I love Saffron, even though I desperately want him to SAVE HIMSELF FOR ONCE IN HIS LIFE. Yeah, I know, he's so kind and his self-sacrificing schtick is part of him, BUT š Saffron was put through literal hell here!!!!! It was CRUEL.
I do enjoy Saffron and Cylvan together, and I think I'll slowly start loving them more in the next books. I spent the first 65% of the novel wanting to murder Cylvan and begging Saffron to dump him, but thankfully Cylvan managed to win over some points by finally helping Saffron out and apologizing and being a dreamboat and kicking Kaeler down, so all good šš» Cylvan can live for now, although I'm expecting some major grovelling still and Saffron being treated and cared for like the literal angel he is š©·
The plot got a smidge confusing at times, and (I blame my reading slump for this) the world-building was a bit complex to follow too. Lots of long wordy descriptions (yeah, it's a fantasy Iz???????????????! What did you expect š) that I skimmed, because again, I'm in a major reading slump and my brain has decided to rebel against me. But that aside!!!!! I'm really enjoying this, and I love the side characters so so so much. Asche is the CUTEST, and I hope they get lots and lots of page time.
That ending was freaking epic! I'm VERY intrigued and very curious to read the next installment.
TWs/CWs: sexual harassment and implied attempted SA, abusive toxic relationship, violence, murder, death, coercion, injury, genocide and genocidal politics.

i started reading this one as soon as i finished the first book, and it didnāt disappoint! i was hooked from the very first page and it only took me a while to finish because igot sick (completely irrelevant to this review LOL). otherwise, i feel like i couldāve finished it in just three sittings at most.
the world-building in lord of a silver ashes is far more intricate compared to the first book, and it was an emotional rollercoaster i didn't expect. i wish i could take away all the suffering and pain from saffron because he doesnāt deserve any of it... my pookietron300
iām so glad i gave this series a chance, and iām excited to see more of saffronās and cylvianās story. theyāve become my new comfort characters - i truly cherish them and their relationship so much. my cuties.

Let me just start by saying that the spice in this bookā¦.was very good, one might say scrumptious even. It took a bit to get there but when we did, I loved every second of it. The expansion of the lore in this book was also SO GOOD!! It felt much more central now that weāve already been introduced to the world and characters. I love Kellen Gravesā world building and Iām a big fan of their prose. Their imagery and similes often feel so lush and vivid. The story continued to be so creative and engaging, like the first book. I really appreciated that there was more emotional depth explored in Saffronās relationship with and resentment toward his world, his treatment, and the past he uncovers. The romance felt cathartic and powerful in great way. They love each other so much and I also love them so much.
Iām really close to giving this book 5 stars for the ending alone. When I tell you the last 6 chapters or so had me yelling and cheering, hooting and hollering. But the first 1/4-1/2 of the story was a bit too frustrating and heart breaking for me.Poor Saffron continued to get his shit absolutely rocked like in book 1. I kept thinking can we please just let my man rest??? Cylvan being essentially useless in this book was kind of annoying but so was Saffron martyring himself, constantly suffering in order to āprotectā others.

iām never read about a fae prince more useless than this one. why is everything falling in the human SLAVE???? nothing went well in this book untill the very end! the devotions made were v stupid. the romance was not strong enough in the first book to wig stand all this torture. anyway i think my journey with this series ends here.
