I really enjoyed Adams’ writing style. There’s so many fun quotes you could pull from this. I also really liked what he did with the Electric Monk and Gordon Way’s ghost. They had such fun storylines. The horse as well.
My biggest disappointment was Dirk Gently himself. I was expecting him to be whimsical and charming, but he was just so full of himself it was annoying. He didn’t really do much either.
The ending felt a bit rushed.

Started with promise but was ultimately too scattered and not funny enough to be great. The whole part about Dirk's background and real name seemed unnecessary. And ultimately Dirk pans out as a pretty minor character. I'm a much bigger fan of his Hitchhiker books. This one was just marginally okay.

Didn't enjoy this much. Of course I compared it to Hitchhikers, and it had a similar style of writing, but just felt slow and sluggish compared to the vigour that I expect from Adams. Takes way too long to actually get started and I was disappointed with the ending.
