Be My Brayshaw

Meagan Brandy

4.14 AVERAGE

This is by far my favorite installment of this series as I've already read the whole thing.... I love Vic and Cap and our little ZoZo. And the shit Vic puts up with in this book..... yeah she could make it easier on everyone but you also know where she's coming from.... and the fact that they distrust her so fast at every turn really pissed me off but I'm assuming that's what our girl Ms or Mrs. Brady wanted us to feel as we get both POVs here. Ugh so freaking good. I'd re read this without the others lol 5/5

Oh Captain My Captain! He did not disappoint in his Alpha role, showing his full on emotional side and full time dad side was such a roller coaster for my heart. I definitely wanted to smack him a few times but he was so worth the anxiety.

In the first 3 books I wasn't sure I was going to be able to like Victoria but she found her way into my heart and cemented her status there. I absolutely loved her undying devotion to this family and her ability to help them before she even knew that just because she had to. She was there for Zoey from the moment she took her first breath and I fell so hard for her when all of her secrets started to get unraveled.

Meagan Brandy will forever be one of my favorite authors for giving this series life, it is one of my all time favorite worlds to dive into.

“That is honor,” he says. “That is loyalty without purpose or personal gain. That, Victoria Vega, is Brayshaw.”

This book wasn’t bad by any means, but it had a ton of unrealized potential. There were so many things I wanted to see from Cap and Vee, considering we already knew about them last book and since they both love Zoey, and unfortunately it just didn’t reach the potential it could’ve had, and that it did have in my head.

Cap… what was going on with him in this book? I was so excited to read about him as the nurturer of the group and to see this relationship with his daughter, but what we got from him was nothing like that? He was rude to Victoria for no reason (all of them were, for that matter) and he kept putting other people first, even though Victoria proved that she had been helping Zoey all along time and time again. And then when Captain chose to believe Mallory over Victoria, that was the final string for me. No. Just, no. He did improve a ton after that, but that happened super late so I only enjoyed his character for such a short portion of the book.

“You might not have made a decision, but that girl has.”
“Why’s that matter to me?”
She eyes me a long moment before saying,
“I said what a Brayshaw wants, a Brayshaw gets.”
I frown. “Victoria is no Brayshaw.”
Miss Maybell smirks, pats me on the cheek and walks away.

Fortunately, Vee herself made up for Captain’s ridiculous antics by being exactly as exciting and interesting as I had hoped. She was somehow both different and similar to Raven, and it was so interesting to finally learn her backstory.

“Don’t test me, Beauty.” She steps back, flipping me off with both hands. “Wouldn’t dream of it, Beast.”

Royce’s book is next! And what was going on in the epilogue!? I know Brielle is the female lead but who is she? Why is she coming to Brayshaw? Lots of things to discover…!

Cap & VicVee

OMG I loved this book!! I think it was everything and more of what us readers wanted! The chemistry was there between Captain and Victoria. There was the expected and unexpected drama that comes with all things Brayshaw. I loved that Meagan incorporated more Big Man and RayRay, but my favorite was ZoZo! I absolutely can not wait for Royce’s story!

victoria and captain are everything plus zoey? please I love them!!
their journey was wild and sometimes heartbroken but also so fun and cute and hot, i loved it, victoria knowing deep down the secrets and always bring it to them without them knowing and being so selfless but not telling anyone it was her? what a woman, she's kind and caring but also so sassy and a badass woman, she is a lot like raven but maybe more kind and soft than her but definitely alike and them together? chaos and i love it ehehe captain is definitely my fave brayshaw man, he's more down to heart than his brothers and at the same time he isn't but the way he loves and cares for his daughter makes my heart full and happy and he got me giggling and kicking my feet in the air, their story was definitely something and what a time i had loved it! and seeing maddoc and raven was a blast!

⭐️ 5 "Anchor, Wave, Ocean" Stars ⭐️
I’ve been obsessed with the Brayshaw Series since reading Boys of Brayshaw High last year. Needless to say I was ecstatic to finally dive into Captain’s book! Be My Brayshaw was one of my most anticipated release this year and it exceeded my expectations. Meagan Brandy presents here an enemies to lovers romance at its best, with two strong main characters with so much personality and explosive chemistry!

The thing I find the most captivating about this series is the fact that all the Brayshaws share a powerful and unbreakable bond based on trust. They don’t give their trust easily though and make you work for it. Victoria not only has to prove her worth to Captain, but also to Raven, Maddoc and Royce. With her previous lies and scheming, the Brayshaws are suspicious of her intentions. Despite all these obstacles in her way, she tries really hard to make them realize she only has their well-being in mind. She's truly selfless and resilient. Her relationship with Captain is tumultuous with their conflicting feelings, but under all the mistrust lies a fierce attraction that’s hard to resist. Here and there, they share stolen moments of passion mix with hate that are just so combustible.

An aspect I was more than waiting for in this book is Captain as a daddy. Seriously, he’s so dreamy with his little girl and would protect her at any cost. The guy that was so serious and the voice of reason in Maddoc and Raven’s trilogy, is this time more impulsive and cold. I felt it is only a way to shield himself from hurt though. One thing is clear, throughout the novel his head heart and soul are constantly at war making his romance with Victoria chaotic, but pure fire!

This book wouldn’t be complete without all the big revelations coming to a clash in the last few chapters. The suspense and all the feels these characters brought to life had me invested 100% into this addictive story. I just couldn’t get enough of the gang and sweet little Zoey! She’s so adorable and has her family completely charmed! Be My Brayshaw was everything and now I need Royce’s story ASAP with that intriguing ending!

“In case you weren’t sure, or had any doubt, don’t,”
I tell her, opening the door. “I love you with all that I am, and I’ll never stop.”

Okay, what the fuck was up with Maddoc in this book? Or more accurately, the lack thereof. I don’t even just mean his presence within the book. Where was his personality? Maddoc was literally my favourite character in the first three books so naturally, his absence aggravated me. Even though I knew this wasn’t his book, it was still strange to see both him and Raven on the outside. Maddoc’s only purpose in this book was to act as Raven’s shadow which damn near made me scream. Why? Just why? I still love Maddoc very much and when he was playing with Zoey, all his attention on her, my fragile little heart turned to mush. That was the most personality I got from him in the entire book. That one scene where I got more of Him, stands out for me more than any other character spending time with Zoey.

I’m conflicted. On one hand, this love story was both poignant and wonderful but I can’t help but feel equally disappointed and enraged by some of the things that happened. I did not agree nor enjoy the way Captain handled things when challenges were placed before him. I’m fully aware that all this drama could’ve been avoided if Victoria came out about everything in the beginning, but that’s just not how Meagan Brandy works, is it? Her plot twists are brilliant and I’m genuinely confused most of the time, having not focused on the plot LOL.

Anyway, I just hated how hot and cold Cap was with Vic. One second he couldn’t keep his hands off her and then next he would forbid her to leave her bloody room. Ughhhhhh, more than fucking anything, I hated how Cap would always give more of himself to Mallory. He even had the fucking audacity to believe Mallory’s word over Victoria’s after she so heartlessly abandoned her own damn child! I get that he was probably so blinded by rage that he just decided to kick Vic out of the mansion but after everything else she did, filling in the gaps, offering information to them and helping Zoey, he didn’t hesitate to throw her out.

Her eyes avoid mine, seeking out the night surrounding us as she repeats in a whisper, “I lied before... I’m not okay with pretending to be her.”

I cannot believe Captain would say something so harsh to Victoria and make her feel like an unworthy piece of shit! He constantly made her feel like she was second best and that Mallory was a better person. Mallory was scum from the ground. On the very unsatisfying topic of Mallory, her bullshit obsession with Victoria just made me roll my eyes so hard. Same with Mike. I wasn’t surprised when he was revealed as Victoria’s only “friend” in the Graven estate, having figured it out easily. I’m not going to lie, that plot line felt like a waste of energy to read. Obsessive friend who thinks he’s the only one who loves the caged girl and tries to steal her away blah, blah, blah. Mike was just… insignificant.

I can’t even wrap my head around how I’m feeling right now. My two favourite characters in this book were Royce and Victoria, two of which weren’t even on my radar in previous books. Given that Raven was pregnant, I guess there wasn’t much more she could do than take care of her unborn child but what about Cap & Maddoc. I mean, Maddoc was always my favourite and probably always will be but Cap is a different story. I gradually fell in love with his calm strength in the first two books but in Reign of Brayshaw, I slowly started to feel less for Captain and now, in his own damn book, he annoyed me more than the heroine and that is seriously saying something. That never happens for me. One way or another, I’m always choosing the guys side (do not ask why) but I just couldn’t stand for Cap’s bullshit.

I know I’ve been complaining and ranting for the most part of this review, but I swear I loved it. The book was just incredibly infuriating. Half the time, I think I was high on my disapproval for Captain’s actions that I didn’t fully embrace all the positive parts of the book. I shipped Cap & Vic during the start and middle of the book but when Mallory came into the picture, I got thrown off a lot. My feelings changed and I didn’t think Cap deserved Vic. A lot of things went downhill with the pair but Captain and Victoria are indeed endgame. I’m still just a teeny bit salty.

It pains me to say this because I genuinely loved everything that encapsulated “Brayshaw” and the unit they were, but this book just threw all that to the wind for me. In the first 3 books, the dynamics of the boys and Raven was spectacular! But… Victoria added into the mix felt a little forced. I remember reading the previous books and thinking that she fit perfect into the Brayshaw family however, that’s not at all how I felt during this book. Victoria reminding the reader that she was meant to be Brayshaw really just made me cringe and honestly, one book was not enough for me to see a strong relationship between Victoria and each of the Brayshaws.

On a more positive note, I adored Royce & Victoria’s friendship entirely! So much for Captain & Victoria. Royce & Victoria were the better relationship, fight me. Everyone was always giving Vic the cold shoulder, Royce included in the beginning, but eventually after she’d proven herself, Royce opened up. They had an honest friendship and when the whole Mallory shit went down, Royce supported Victoria. When they went to get drunk together to distract themselves, situation aside, I was so thankful to Royce for having Victoria’s back and going against his brothers.

“Family runs deeper than blood"

Last thing I want to mention is Captain, Victoria & Zoey. Ahhhhhhh even I can’t stop myself from melting. They have such a cute relationship! The times when Captain would lean on Victoria to help with Zoey or allow her to spend time with Zoey were so cute. It was a lot for my heart to handle. Both are so gentle and loving towards Zoey and Zoey herself is just so precious. Her bubbliness is contagious, even from outside of the book. Their whole little family owns my heart.

5 stars for my very, very problematic babies. I can't wait for Break Me Brayshaw which is Royce & Brielle’s story. The snippet we got into their story was very vague and what I want to know if why Royce sought her out in the first place and didn’t consult with his brothers. Very interesting and I’m excited because Royce Brayshaw is baby!
