I didn't enjoy this one as much as I had thought I would l, but that might have been a narrator problem. It was a nice, cute, short book though, one I could easily turn into a series with real growing potential.

I'm always a tiny bit disappointed at tales with shape-changing dragons. They're such splendid creatures; why diminish them by having them spend time in the form of puny humans?

But I fell in love with the prickly shape-changing Miss Drake. This is a lovely tale. It deals gently with grief, and joyfully with friendship. Miss Drake's plans for "training" Winnie are, of course, a source of amusement for readers who realize that the two characters are actually training each other.

I loved the setting, with a bevy of details bringing San Francisco to life. Mary GrandPre's illustrations are magical as always.

This one's a winner!

I'm usually a big fan of books written by Laurence Yep. This book however struck the wrong cord with me. I found the little girl in the story annoying.

A super cute middle grade read, with a dragon, cute kid in need of a friend, and their adventure that leads to friendship.

A short sweet book about a dragon and her new pet, Winnie. Miss Drake's previous pet, Fluffy passes away and invites Winnie to care for her friend. Miss Drake and Winnie have fantastic adventures together. I loved the small tips of advice at the beginning of each chapter on the proper way to train a human.
