I never realized how much of a Mary-Sue Nancy is. Also, she gets "caught" in like every freaking book. Still, I love this series and I plan on reading/rereading as many Nancy Drew books as possible.
A very entertaining and light read, which brings you right into the world of Nancy Drew: her hometown of River Heights sort of becomes a home to the reader while enjoying this book.
I remember loving the Nancy Drew books as a kid. They were actually the first novels I enjoyed, sparking my love of reading. Returning to them as an adult I'm not as fascinated anymore, but I'm glad to introduce them to my junior high students.
Disclaimer: I love Nancy Drew, so there is no way this book is getting a bad review from me.
For kids: This is the perfect book/series for bedtime stories! The chapters are short and of course the ending is very happy and exciting.
For adults: This is a fun and quick read. Not much is left to the imagination, but that's okay. The dialogue is a little fake sounding. It's a children's book, so that's to be expected. There were a few times when characters who were nameless, suddenly received names within the dialogue. It's a little odd, but it doesn't take away from the story.
For kids: This is the perfect book/series for bedtime stories! The chapters are short and of course the ending is very happy and exciting.

Alright I adored Nancy Drew as a little girl. I think I started reading them at about 8 yrs old. So this year when someone suggested a Nancy Drew read-along I jumped all in!!
Fair warning I’m reading the original 1930’s editions (because that’s what I have), so mine will be different from many others who read these.
First of all these are not PC (queue shocked face)! This book is highly derogatory to African Americans and in 2020 it’s hard to read. I’m taking it within the context of the time it was written but it’s awful in parts and cringe!!
Secondly Nancy is a really REALLY presumptuous and privileged little **** haha. Honestly this book felt like a WIP versus a completed version of the story. She’s lucky she’s not dead and her dad is all ehhh you’re okay so no harm done. *mind blown*
All in all I give it three stars for nostalgia but I’m ready to move on to the next books in the series.

It was great. I recommend this book to any one that likes mysteries. I loved this book it was a little lower in lexile or (how hard the book is) than most mysteries.
