I originally started listening to this to fall asleep to and so wasn't expecting much. It admittedly was more interesting than that. I loved the setting of the Cornish hotel and the "let's save this hotel" plot. You do need to suspend some level of disbelief though to enjoy it. I also didn't really enjoy the romance plot. It was a bit cringe, didn't enjoy the conflict and didn't really like Reece.

But it was okay. Light, easy listening. Enjoyable writing style, wonderful descriptions. Don't try to think about it too hard or you'll get frustrated.

I really enjoyed my time at The Cornish Hotel, with lady leading Ellie. I worked in a hotel many moons ago so I could relate to some of the tricky situations that arise at Gwel Teg. With an accompanying cast of stand-out characters that compliment the story well. I really felt this could be the basis of a series of books about Ellie and her life, therefore I didn’t need the five years section later. What I would have loved/love is a follow-up book. There is of course much potential for my wish.

The writing style of Karen King is superb, it’s easy flowing nature captures us from page one. There is always something new occurring to keep our attention. It was refreshing not to know the end of the book half way through, I really had no idea what would happen and it added more to the book for me.

The core of the story is trust and how fragile and important it is. Who we give it to and what they do with it. With an interwinding thread of family and love. This really is stonking great read that will leave you wanting more.

A well thought out story with unforgettable characters. I may have checked out for now at The Cornish Hotel but I sure hope I will be able to spend time there again and catch up with Ellie and her friends.

I thoroughly recommend The Cornish Hotel By Karen King.

Read this book in a couple days. I love books that are set in the UK, this one is set in Cornwall.

I have to say I really enjoyed this story but there are a number of typos that took some of the enjoyment out of it for me. Karen King is a favourite author of mine, her romance books just feel like that warm hug that I need but what I can’t get my head round is the fact that it was first published in 2017 by accent press and then republished by headline in 2021 and it still has typos? What happened to the proofreader & editors? It should have been picked up on.

Anyway, moving on,

This book centres around a struggling family run hotel in Gwel Teg, Cornwall but not without the drama and heartache. I really admire Ellie and Reece and would like to hear more from them. They both want the best for the hotel but not necessarily on the same page.

I really enjoyed the developing romance within these pages and was itching for the characters, it was definitely another chapter kind of read.

Alongside this sees just how caring Ellie is towards her mum and just how much the hotel means to them as a family unit & what it can mean in the future.

All in all, a heartwarming story ❤️
