A great mix of thought-provoking essays and poetry ruminating principally on identity, and what it is to be mixed-race.

Bør nok leses en gang til, med spansk-norsk ordbok i hånda—da med sikte på å få med alt fra diktene. Sånn ellers: wow! Elsker studiet mitt som introduserer meg til bøker som denne<3

This book is absolutely gorgeous. I'm obsessed

The theory and background in her work is incredible. So is the poetry. But I couldn’t vibe with the spiritualism or the encouragement of partaking in it, especially in that so many of these traditions are actively appropriated in present day.

I found this book amazing and spoke to me so deeply. As a Latina I felt seen and heard and spoken to by Gloria and I so appreciate it.

From a scholarly perspective, some of her ideas of race are outdated and problematic, but the themes of space and understanding the connection to land that Latinxs have are important and significant.
