Some of this got really metaphysical or out there. I enjoyed it, but there were definitely points I had to reread two to three times and still wasn't positive what I should take away from a chapter. I did like a lot how Anzaldúa mixed excerpts of songs and poetry along with her reflection, and the snippets of Spanish were always fun to come across

i loved the coupling of historical information with personal experiences and philosophies as well as poetry. unfortunately there were sections i had to skip because i don't speak the other languages that she writes in, so i didn't get to read the whole book, but I'm not mad about it because like the author says "until I am free to write bilingually and to switch codes without having always to translate, while I still have to speak English or Spanish when i would rather speak Spanglish, and as long as I have to accommodate the English speakers rather than having them accommodate me, my tongue will be illegitimate."
