I don't consider myself a poetry lover, but then I find some that moves me to tears. Or smiles. Or cause deep introspection.
This was a deeply personal collection, and while I didn't love every single poem, those that touched me, did so deeply. Expressions, on the page, of what many of us feel, always make us feel less alone. Seen.

This was a mixed bag. I liked some of the poems that felt like tiny short stories; I didn't like the ones that read like diary entries. A lot of the times the flow is clumsy and he's not great with endings.

There are several amazing lines in this book, a few of which are now some of my favorite quotes. Unfortunately they’re largely surrounded by just okay poetry. I’m a huge Misha Collins fan, and there is some amazing writing in here. There’s also some that just falls flat.

I love Misha ok, I really do but dude ... are you ok?
What did I just read.
This is the most personal collection of poetry I have ever read. Now dont get me wrong, parts of this were good. There were some wholesome moments that he captured between him and his family. Those moments were few and far between, but regardless Im going to give credit where credit is due. I truly wanted to enjoy this.
The underlying problem here is just that, Misha got way to intimate. This must have been very therapeutic for him, but as a reader I felt very uncomfortable. There was no forth wall and I felt like Misha was just talking me through his journal entries.
TMI COLLINS. TO MUCH INFORMATION.
I am very concerned for him now and really hope he has somebody to talk about this stuff with, cause he deserves that.
The point is, it was a overall unenjoyable experience. I probably wouldn't recommend, but if your anything like me you'll probably still read it.

I have been mulling over the best way to say this since I finished this poetry book yesterday, and I've decided that being forthright is best. Some Things I Still Can't Tell You is a terrible book. It's bad poetry, bad writing, it knows it, and it does not care. Now, normally, I would assume earnestness in bad poetry - and honestly, I have pretty complex ideas about what "bad" art is, anyway - but I am going to be very clear: Misha Collins is extremely famous. He has a following so large that I find it almost unfathomable. And when you (Misha Collins) are selling something to an audience that feels connected to you through your previous works, I feel that there is a minimum quality standard to which you should hold yourself. This book is FAR below it. And what makes me the most angry about this is that Collins addresses negative criticism in one poem - "Negativity Bias" - where he speaks on an acquaintance saying something rude and comes to the conclusion that it doesn't matter if no one is interested in his writing or thinks it's good because he is just writing for himself. As an avid reader and writer both publicly and privately, I feel very strongly that that's not acceptable for published writing that you're selling to your fanbase. Take a fucking ethics course next time, bud.
