Poetry is not usually my thing, I never get it, but luckily Misha's poetry is mostly straightforward, meaning my brain doesn't have to untangle them. I absolutely loved these, and want to give them all hugs.

Enjoy my unhinged thoughts as I read.

Love poems
These hit super hard, knowing who Misha and Vicky are. I wonder how it hits when they are strangers to you, when you have no idea about their lives. I am so sorry for both of them.

Hope, joy, running & other good things
Negativity bias got a good chuckle out of me! Most of these got a bit too ‘floaty’ for me, however, meaning I just can’t fully grasp them. The ones I did, however, were absolutely wonderful, though listening to him gives everything a melancholic value still.

Longing, sadness, running & foreboding
These are definitely darker, and hit much harder personally. It’s definitely a rough couple of poems. But poor black kitties. *goes to cuddle her own*

My people (& other people)
This was my least favorite section, I think, but the one where you think of losing someone in the future or them losing you? Fuck.

The parents
Ohgod, dementia. Too much. Being a parent at four? Not make anyone feel bad and still struggling as an adult? Jesusfuck The Fly hits so close to home. Can also most definitely relate to his relationship with his mother. This section truly was A Lot. Wow.

The kids
I truly admire Misha’s honesty in these poems, being willing to show the darker sides to being a parent and a son.

There's a lot I could say about how great this book is, but my friend Kenedi said it all much more eloquently over at Nerds and Beyond so.....https://www.nerdsandbeyond.com/2021/09/03/book-review-some-things-i-still-cant-tell-you-by-misha-collins/

DID NOT FINISH

The poems aren't bad at all. I think I'm realising poem collections from the same poet aren't really for me.

There are some great things in here! The love poems made me cry and I loved the section where he simply was making observations about his day to day life. Some of the poems are a little iffy but I think they do well to set up and counterbalance the hard hitters like "These Hours" and "Morning, World". Overall, a very well composed collection that made me feel lots of things all at once.

I never knew Misha Collins could write so beautifully. These poems are vulnerable and sad and lovely. What a hard thing to write and share with the world.

Some poems were beautiful and explored complex feelings, however, others lacked emotional depth and seemed to just be there to fill the book. Overall it’s a good collection of poetry, especially for a first time author and I would recommend it to those who are new to the genre as it isn’t too heavy.
