I picked this up to finish the series.
“We‘ll Always Have Summer” jumps ahead two years and follows Belly and Conrad. Belly and Jeremiah have been mostly happy together for two years now, and they even attend the same college. Unfortunately, Jeremiah makes a huge mistake and now Belly must decide if their relationship is worth saving, all while navigating her maybe not dormant feelings for Conrad.
Of all the books, this one made Belly feel the most immature to me. Belly finds out that Jeremiah cheated on her (kind of a Ross and Rachel situation) and when she confronts him about it, he proposes to her. So, naturally, with all of her doubts and concerns about their future, and being in college, she says yes. This causes a huge rift in their families because everyone thinks they are way too young to get married.
Marriage is such a special and sacred act between two people and I really hate when characters take it so lightly. It is a lifelong commitment and not a plot point to end an argument. The fact that Jeremiah proposed because it came out that HE cheated shows that he is not ready to be married, he just does not want to lose Belly to his mistake.
We do get Conrad’s perspective in this novel, which was a fun surprise. It was definitely a lot more fun being in Conrad’s head because he is a much more closed off person, so it was helpful as a reader to be able to get inside his mind.
Belly still feels a pull towards Conrad and I was screaming at her to just own it and be with him. But the climax occurs on her wedding day, which was atrocious timing.
Overall, I really enjoyed this series and I REALLY loved how it ultimately ended, however this was my least favorite novel. How the characters got to their end was not how I wanted things to go for them.

This is my second read of the third book because I just watched the first two episodes of season 3 and needed a refresh. I still absolutely dispise this series and characters but book 3 is definitely the best even if the ending is rushed at least my team won in the end
team Connie baby
I will say for once that honestly the show is better then the books and that’s not to say I don’t like Jenny Han’s writing I absolutely adore the TATBILB series it’s one of my all time favorites I think Jenny just as really grown as an author since this series and it’s not a great reflection of her amazing work. Anyway watch the show don’t read these books.

We’ll Always Have Summer is the most intense and mature installment of the trilogy. It tackles the idea of what forever actually means when you’re still figuring out who you are. The love triangle finally reaches its conclusion — messy, emotional, and full of regret, growth, and raw truth.

Belly’s engagement to Jeremiah forces everyone — including Conrad — to confront what they’ve been avoiding for years. The book deals with betrayal, miscommunication, and forgiveness in a way that’s painful but honest.

It’s not a fairytale ending, but it’s an earned one. You may not agree with all the choices, but that’s the point — growing up means making imperfect decisions and learning from them.

Belly was driving me absolutely crazy the first like 2/3 of this book.  It just really bugs me how Belly couldn’t make up her mind for THREE WHOLE BOOKS. If I wasn’t already headed there, this book completely converted me from team Jere to team Conrad.
I’m sorry, but why did Belly think it was a good idea to marry Jeremiah after he proposed IMMEDIATELY after he cheated on her? Yes they were on a break but (literally the Rachel and Ross thing all over again) Belly was super hung up on him during this break, and Jeremiah just… wasn’t apparently ?
However, the ending was satisfying!

what a beautiful way to end a wonderful series. i started this book last september after reading the first two books in the summer but paused reading after about 50 pages because i wanted to save it for the next summer and i'm so glad i did because reading this now on a beach vacation was so nice and atmospheric and i made sure to save the ending for when i went to the beach and read the last lines of the book while i heard the waves crashing in front of me. after i finished the book, i swam in the salt water
just like how belly and conrad did on their wedding day
. (admittedly, existing in the ocean alone on a cloudy day next to a family of 27 was slightly underwhelming and not at all similar to their experience but that's besides the point.)

anyways, this series is phenomenal and feels like you're stepping into someone's memories. it has fast paced writing you can blow through and i already want to reread the whole series all over again. also i'm finally caving and joining the team conrad train after being very against him for the majority of my reading experience. but he was so heartless and narcissistic in the first two books to the point where it's hard to understand how anyone could've liked him sue me!
