Definitely not what I expected I thought it was going to be a cute / sweet romantic book but it isn’t. The book left me in tears and heartbroken

This felt like Christmas Carol and The Fault in Our Stars had a baby.

The end had me sobbing

This book had no right to make me sob, the way it did during the last 30 pages. I was expecting a Hallmark-style, cheesy love story, but boy was I wrong. And I’m glad I was wrong, because I haven’t read a book that made me tear up like this in a while.

Don’t let the christmasy cover fool you!

A good enough book. Not satisfying in the way I’d hoped.

Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy of this title! WOW- what I thought would be a light and fun read, actually ended up being incredibly emotional and touching.

Josie and Max bump into each other- quite literally while Josie is on her way to drop the letter she writes to her parents every year. Josie doesn't love Christmas because of the terrible memories it holds for her. However, this one Christmas with Max changes everything. Except he leaves unannounced. We then follow Josie and Max with dual POVs throughout the next year as they both go through many twists and turns individually, but always end up meeting again.

I think what I really loved about the story was the way Stone writes the point of views. It goes in chronological order, which is something I typically don't love, but Stone does it so well. I found myself flying through the entire story on the edge of my seat waiting for Josie and Max to meet again.

All in all, this was a sweet, emotional, and touching story. Just know- this is not a light and funny read. Be prepared to be invested! The ending was kind of predictable the more you read, but honestly it didn't bother me. I still cried!

emotional sad slow-paced

This was such an adorable story, but if you’re looking for a cheesy Christmas romance, this is not it. Though I was expecting twists and turns and troubles along the way, I was not expecting this book to end the way it did. The last 20 pages or so seemed so rushed and out of the blue. I loved it up until that point and I would have given it the five stars if the ended didn’t happen lol.
