2.5 rounded up. This was a very strange little book. I am dumb about allegories so maybe I’d like it better if I understood what it was trying to do better. But mostly it’s try-hard-y I think
Why are we using the R word in a book published in 2020 and taking place in some nondescript future? Do better.
Just the right amount of wryness, creativity, social commentary and drama. Would make the perfect disaster movie.
This was so beautiful?? I wasn’t fully engaged until over halfway and then it all came together and wow what a stunning, contemplative, timely message. I loved the biblical parallels/allegories tied in. This was really about the hope of a new generation in the face of a decaying society to mobilize and come together. Post apocalyptic books have not failed me yet! I will be thinking about this for a minute.
Environmentally Dystopian, full of allegory. 3 stars because it made me so sad at the end.
