Would have been better if there hadn't been so much language.
Zombies and superheroes.... what's not to like about that premise? There is a large enough cast of characters to keep this interesting - I don't think any one of the characters is written well enough to hold the book together on their own, but as an ensemble they're an interesting bunch.
I'm the type of person that can really appreciate zombies and superheroes. I love this kind of stuff. But this book really did not live up to it's potential. You can definitely tell that this is Clines' first novel. The idea of the book is an interesting one, but it lacked what it takes to be a really great story. There was not much to the plot in terms of making me want to keep turning the page. Almost no character development kept the characters themselves a little dry. It was a bit stereotypical in that 99% of the superheroes were white and the enemy was a gang of tattooed Latinos. The organization was a little messy, and the descriptions were not vivid enough to paint a good picture. This book could have been a lot more creative had it been written by an author that was maybe a little more experienced.

I give this book a 2.5 out of 5.... There was a little too much zombie fighting and not enough charcter development for me... some of the most interesting points in my opinion were left short and i wanted to read more about them..
it was not a bad book though, i probably wouldn't re-read it though.

It was fine. It’s clear this author barely understands how women work. There were times when the lines were blurred between “book written by a misogynist” and “book written from a misogynist POV”. Other than that it was fun to turn my brain off and read about superheroes fighting zombies. I would just rather watch this in a movie rather than read this in a book so that I didn’t have to commit so much of my time to a book I didn’t really enjoy.
I almost didn't read this -- I've had enough zombies. It's more than that though, definitely a great addition to the superhero novel genre.
I enjoyed it. I felt the ending feel a little flat and the pop culture references aged it, but otherwise an enjoyable mashup for fans of superheroes and zombies.
Could have been fun if all the characters weren't so annoying.
