I don't know why I didn't enjoy this one more. Maybe I just wasn't really in the mood for it, but well, it just took me a while to really become invested in it, and that did detract from my enjoyment. When I finally became interested in the puzzle, trying to understand and solve it, it was better, but it still wasn't a perfectly smooth experience. I didn't really care for most of the characters, so that didn't help. This may have also been one of those books I would've enjoyed more reading completely visually rather than blending it with the audiobook. Suchet's narration is excellent as always, but I wonder if the complexity of the plot and details were just a bit harder for me to hold in my head with the audiobook. Anyway, I did like the solution a lot, and I thought the story went in a really interesting and thoughtful direction.

If you like murder mysteries, it's hard to go wrong with an Agatha Christie novel. Her stories are the epitome of the murder mystery. Well setup and giving the reader all the clues, but presenting them in a way that's meant to hide the true killer. However, at story's end, you can't help but think, "oh, that was rather obvious, wasn't it?"

I tend to vastly prefer Christie's Ms. Marple mysteries to her Poirot novels, but this one surprised me. It's probably the first Poirot mystery that I struggled to put down.
