I really enjoyed reading this book. It made me look at Nora Roberts in a new light because this is so unlike anything that I've ever read by her. She really is versatile writer.

I love stories that revolve around ranching. This was a great modern day story that revolved around three very different half-sisters.

MONTANA SKY
Written by Nora Roberts
1996; Berkley (448 Pages)
Genre: fiction, mystery, suspense
Jack Mercy - a gruff mean old SOB - has died and leaves to his three daughters (by three different wives) a third of the ranch. There is one minor hitch - they must live on the ranch together for a year.
Willa is devastated as she has lived with her father and worked alongside him. The ranch means everything to her as does her father's approval. The salt to her wounds is that Ben McKinnon (fellow ranch owner) and Nate Torrence (lawyer and rancher) are to supervise the running of the ranch. Tess is a writer from LA and Montana may as well be Mars to her. She has no feels towards her father except abandonment so she will stay on the ranch spite him. Now she must deal with Montana's harsh weather, ranch life and sisters she has never met. Lily is the only one who does not mind the terms as she is on the run from her abusive ex-husband.
To make things worse their seems to be a murderer loose...this only makes the Mercy women stronger with the men beside them.
I loved this novel - it has everything you wish for in a good read - adventure, romance, mystery and well written. All I can say is READ!

I used to love this book when I was younger. Rereading it now they’re a lot of obvious flaws and problematic parts I didn’t notice back then. Regardless, this is a charming read

Montana Sky

Half-sisters, Tess, Lily and Willa Mercy are forced by the terms of their fathers’ will to live on the family ranch together for one year. Against the backdrop of a Montana ranch, the sisters learn to love and trust each other and the men in their lives as danger looms from outside forces.
Just as enjoyable as the first time around.
Each of the Mercy sisters is engaging in her own right whether it be the spoiled and sophisticated Tess whose met the one man patient enough to accept her foibles and all; timid and vulnerable Lily who learns that the right man can indeed be trusted, and strong and fearless Willa who realizes that she can let her guard down and rely on the man she loves.
The suspense elements in the book are intense and exciting with two equally deranged villains, and the writing is some of Nora’s best with delightful descriptions, incisive characterization and snappy dialogue.
All in all, an entertaining family saga with charming characters and fantastic descriptions that more than withstand the test of time.

So the librarian again suggested this book...hmmm, I'm sensing a pattern here. It was ok. I vaguely felt like I had either read it before or seen a Lifetime movie based on it. As far as romance novels go, again, it was ok.
