This didn't feel young adult. This felt almost epic. It was a bit too long and a bit too rambling, but an amazing story all the same. I'm sure everyone can guess who Fox is the minute he's introduced, but fine. I've decided that the old grandmaster's daughter was Daisy's mom as well, but that may be for another book.

I was also singing "madam Gaston, can't you just see it?" for the rest of the night. You'll see why if you're a Disney nut that knows the scripts to all the movies.

To preface my review, one of my favourite series in the world is the Once Upon a Con series by Ashley Poston. So, because of that, I will read anything by Ashely Poston. Have I loved anything else by her? Not yet. But I am always willing to give her newer books a shot.

Now onto Among the Beasts & Briars. I was enjoying the plot at first. I loved Cerys' magic and Fox becoming a person was so interesting and different. But then the last couple of chapters fell short for me. The ending felt rushed and was very predictable (a lot of the things were predictable throughout). I wish this could've been maybe a series (a duology?) so that I wouldn't be left with this feeling that there was something missing.

Overall, wasn't bad, was a quick read, but not my favourite.

This book was okay. Nothing horrible to say about it by any means, but I don’t think it really added anything new or interesting to the genre. It was pretty classic fairytale curse and the plot twist were fairly easy to figure out. Parts were a little repetitive, but overall the writing was well done. I’ll definitely read something else by the author, but I’m not chomping at the bit for her next book.

This was adorable! It felt like I was reading a fairytale. I loved the humor and the heart in it.

Sadly, I'm not the kind of reader who can start and end a book in a single day and it doesn't usually bother me, we all read at our own pace... But this book, from the very first couple of chapters, putting it down was a sacrifice!

This is a great book and I knew from the very first few pages that it was going to be one of my favourite books! Starting you off with the narrative that you think you know, only to slowly tip it somewhere else, and you barely notice it untill you get to the end to realise that it was both what you expensive and not. At the same time!

This book was a recommendation, but I don't really know what I was expecting out it. I know that really early on I realise that I'm getting FAR MORE than I bargained for. Loved it! That's it, that's the review, I loved it, go read it.

When the time comes, will you face the wood or will you run?

I’m halfway through and loved it from the first page! It’s a super easy read and I am wondering what the answers to the secrets are every second. It’s a can’t-put-down book. Such a fairytale and I love the representation of women in powerful positions. For those who love magic, whimsy and a story that is so easy to get lost in without being super heavy.

Update upon finishing – I super appreciate the normalized queer representation of supporting/side characters. No mention of their queerness, same sex relationships just are. Love it :)

Also, if anyone wants to write a fan-fiction version of this story where Cerys’ best friend Wen is her love interest, I would read immediately
