Ready Player Two is the Planes 2 of books. Unneeded and detrimental to the series.

What I Didn't Like About -

The language - Ernest Cline has learned how to curse since the last book. Unneeded and detracts from the story.

The Big Bang Theory as a book - the actual story of the book is maybe 20 pages long. And that story is just a rehash of RP1. The rest of the book is like watching an episode of The Big Bang Theory that won't end. It's nothing but reference to other, 'geeky' things. It's the author yelling "look at me, I know geek culture, so you should love this".

The writing - there are very few descriptions in the book. It mainly consists of the characters saying things along the lines of now we're in x movie or listening to y song. No descriptions, no growth. Just a play on nostalgia.

This sequel was a delightful journey, catching up with each character post-victory, amidst newfound fame. Set in the 80s, it maintained the adventurous spirit while offering a fresh time frame. However, nothing quite matches the brilliance of "Ready Player One."

The book was slow to start with, but as soon as the main villain and thus conflict developed it just felt overused and not worth my time. It took so long to just see how great life was for everyone after the first book. Finally the conflict starts and it's just... Not new, not fresh, not exciting. Maybe it would've gone over better if there wasn't hours before it even happened.

I hated much of this book. I didn’t like Wade in this book for the vast majority and I get he needed to grow but it was just not my thing. I felt like it was a weird reprise of the first with an odd fairytale ending and I didn’t love it. I don’t think this book was necessary.

I loved Ready Player One, and was so excited to read the sequel and continue with the world and characters. This book was very interesting and entertaining, and the plot totally made sense despite the fact that I couldn't fathom a concrete idea of what a sequel could possibly cover. Seeing the person that Wade became and the relationships between the High Five fade was slightly frustrating, but I liked how they were once again forced to come together to solve another Easter egg hunt, with each shard utilizing one person's strengths. However, this did make it seem like it was designed specifically for them (even tho Halliday hadn't known them or who would be his heir when he designed it) and made each shard a one person show rather than constant teamwork. The pacing did seem slightly off, since it takes about half of the book to setup and find only 2 out of 7 of the shards of the Siren's Soul, and then the rest were packed much closer together. At times the pace was also affected by the intense amount off information and trivia dumped into finding each shard, most of which went completely over my head and wasn't necessary to know nor did I remember, however it did further solidify the incredible knowledge and research done by the characters. So while I recognize its importance, its length and placement just took away from the action and made things drag at times. I really wish that the Low Five were more important and that we had gotten to know those characters better. It seemed like they were going to be a lot more important than they actually were, and I wished they had teamed up with the High Five and actually worked together rather than separately. I would be interested in reading about Lo and her friends solving similar quests in a companion, such as seeing them finding the Dorkslayer sword.

Not as good as the first book but still excellent! Kinda want a third one if I’m being honest!

It was a good book. I enjoyed it. But I think book 1 was sooo much better. In some ways. Book 2 was very predictable.

The first 20-30 pages and the last 20-30 pages are just not good and the ending almost ruined the whole book for me. Was a bit disappointed.
