A little predictable but still entertaining.
mysterious medium-paced

A woman with a secret past finds connections within a wealthy community. She falls in love with a widower but he isn’t telling her the full truth.

Spoiler
His wife is actually responsible for the death of her best friend. Eddie was only keeping the secret.

I think Bea and Eddie are alive out there since only his teeth were found

Enjoyable debut novel. Well told and great payoff to close the story out.

Lots of twists and turns. A good read.

I haven't read Jane Eyre, so I completely forgot that this was supposed to be a modern retelling until I finished the book and read the Acknowledgements. I likely would have appreciated the story even more with a better understanding of the context/influence, but as a stand-alone, it was a fun page-turner.
