It was pretty good but let's maybe not put the first plot twist in the title?
Very quick read but also very blah. Jane Eyre retelling? Nah. There is likeness but overall this book just stripped away everything complex and interesting from that storyline and, and plopped it into a “luxury” suburban neighborhood in Alabama with characters who have shady backstories (and even that proved banal).
Don't waste your time. The plot didn't make a ton of sense and the ended was disappointing. All the characters were bad people for one reason or another. This read like a bad Lifetime movie.
Not the most relatable characters and if you’ve read enough Rosie Walsh, you saw the twist coming, and the ending was .. different than I expected. But still overall a good read, and I like seeing how the authors introduces and plays out the twist.
the way that nothing could prepare me for that INSANITY of an ending

This was ok. Maybe 2.5 stars rounded up. I listened to the audiobook. Some of the voices were annoying (it was narrated by a number of people, different narrators for each character as the chapters alternated between characters. Of course, the main character narrator had a nasally voice with inflections that I found irritating). I also did not find any of the characters to be likeable or sympathetic in any way. There were interesting twists and turns though and in spite of the narration I did get caught up in the story. Borrowed this on Libby from my library.

Prefacing my review by saying that I have not read or watched Jane Eyre so I'm not sure what I should be expecting aside from this being a thriller. However, I did not see any of that aside from Jane hearing weird noises.
It's still an entertaining read as I did not see those twists coming until we have Eddie's POV. The ending felt anti-climatic and underwhelming though.

I read this in one sitting on a flight home and boy was this a page turner.
I loved the characters, i loved the setting and i loved seeing how far characters would go to protect themselves and their secrets
The twist at the end and that “missing piece” felt anti-climactic to me though which is why I gave this 4 instead of 5 stars
