The Night Before by Wendy Walker was an excellent thriller and extremely engaging! This book used one of my favorite writing techniques, multiple timelines / perspectives. Each chapter alternates between 1 of 3 different perspectives: The Present Day, The Night Before and Laura's Therapy Sessions. The whole plot revolves around Laura Lochner. After a terrible breakup, Laura decides to leave her life in New York, return back to her hometown and move in with her sister Rosie, brother-in-law and nephew. Laura has a dark past that seems to follow her around but has decided to put that all behind her and start dating again. Laura meets a man on an online dating site and they decide to meet up. Everything is great until Laura doesn't return home and seems to have disappeared into thin air. Rosie immediately begins to worry, not about her sister, but the man she was seeing. While I felt like the first 75 pages were a little slow, the rest of the book absolutely flew by (I read about 200 pages yesterday). There were some interesting twists sprinkled throughout (and I managed to figure out where this was going by roughly the halfway point). I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to all fans of the thriller / suspense genre! 4 out of 5 stars
VERY slow moving. I like my thrillers to have me on the edge of my seat, and this didn’t hold my interest. I enjoyed seeing how everything was wrapped up at the end, but getting there was a chore.
I flew through this audiobook on a short road trip so I think that helped me get caught up in the story. I was skeptical of everyone and didn’t really predict the ending and other twists so giving it 5 stars!

This was such a solid thriller! This was my first Wendy Walker book and it won't be my last. I’m going to keep this brief because I feel like going into this one blind is the best way to experience it.
I really enjoyed this one because it really kept me guessing the whole time. The whole book feels really ominous and I think the suspense builds well. It is also full of red herrings which made this one even more fun to read. The book alternates POVs and timelines between Laura and her sister Rosie. I thought this structure helped with the pacing and I just wanted to keep reading to find out what was going to happen! I'm so looking forward to reading more from this author!
Read if: you're looking for a solid, suspenseful read that will keep you guessing until the end.
⚠️ TW: gaslighting.

This is the second Wendy Walker book I have read and it didn’t disappoint. Well written, and I love the unpredictability, you never know which way it’s going to go. No spoilers here. Just read it!!
Oh, this one was good. A lightning-fast pace and an intense, intriguing mystery easily made this a one-sitting read.

I loved Emma In The Night so I was so excited to receive an arc of Wendy Walkers latest! This book drew me in from page one and kept me guessing for most of the book. I definitely thought I had "figured it out" part way through the book, but boy was I wrong. Such a fast paced and fantastic thriller! I highly recommend it!
I received an advanced copy in exchange of an honest review.

This was a total flop for me. I was really invested in this book just by the sypnosis. I was under the interpretation that Laura was a crazy ass bitch and she waa out killing people but I was sadly mistaken.
I'm thinking that this was a mystery thriller and that's why I didn't care for it. The whole brother situation where Laura is Rosie's husband sister was stupid. That really wasn't needed. The plot twist of this story needs some work. I'm sorry but once I found out the whole "reveal" I laughed. I understood the story but I just wished it was executed a bit differently.
