3.5 I really liked this going into it. It reminded me of a Gillian Flynn novel at first with the dynamic relationships between Laura and Rosie and Laura and past boyfriends, as well as Laura’s troubled past. I was also interested that the author was an attorney turned author. The beginning and end were great at setting up and finalizing the story but the middle was so monotonous.
This one kept me on my toes until the very end. I had a hard time getting into it but once I did I had to know how it ended

This one had a premise that really intrigued me, but the novel itself fell flat. I was looking for a fast moving novel where the woman seemingly is the victim but is actually not and she is holding her date prisoner and who knows what may happen next.
I was at first intrigued by Laura and Rosie being sisters and Laura's concern and determination to find her sister, but a little later in the novel I was just not invested in their story anymore. The Night Before also has multiple povs, which I normally enjoy but this novel just didn’t agree with me. There is a twist I didn’t see coming and when it is revealed you had to take a minute and think about the reality of this scenario in regards to the story. From that point on I was just ready to end the novel but I only had so much left that I continued.
I did listen to the audiobook version and maybe that was the problem for me with this novel. This may be one to actually read versus have read to you.
I would give Ms. Walker another chance in reading another of her novels, but this one just didn’t work for me so I cannot recommend it.

Yes!!! I could not put this book down! Wendy Walker did her thing! I loved Emma in the Night and now I’m adding The Night Before to my favorite thrillers list.
I had so many theories...I’m pretty sure I suspected each individual at one point or another! Some of my suspicions were correct while some things shocked the hell out of me!!
I finished this thriller with no unanswered questions and everything unfolded perfectly! Highly Recommended!!!

After hearing wonderful things about Wendy Walker’s precious books, I was so looking forward to sinking my teeth into her latest, The Night Before. It was an entertaining and quick read, and while I enjoyed it, it left me wanting more from what I can clearly tell is a great storyteller. This one fell a little short for me, mainly because it reminded me of so many other thrillers I’ve read, so it almost felt like I was reading it for a second time. Was it entertaining and twisty and gripping? Sure! I think it will do really well and people will thoroughly enjoy it. Was it super original in an otherwise “tropey” genre? Not exactly. But you know, sometimes you just really want a thriller that you can fly through that entertains without tons of anxiety. This is that book. While this one didn’t exactly blow me away, I’m definitely looking forward to reading Wendy Walker’s other stories.

Il libro è scorrevole ed è stato piacevole leggerlo. Ci sono un po' di pecche però: lo stile, non pulitissimo.
