Fantastically Hilarious

This is one of the best things I've read in vampire verse. Take an ancient, powerful vampire and throw him into the modern era where vampires are weak and beautiful. Throw in his nemesis reincarnated into the body of sociopathic eight-year-old boy, and an older sister who is taking zero crap. Shenanigans ensue. It's the battle of the ugly, ancient, and powerful versus the beautiful, famous, and not-so-bright.

While I did find the sister, Amanda, to be extraordinarily annoying, I found Simon, the boy nemesis to be very amusing. He kept Yulric--and basically everyone--on their toes. And I am totally on Yulric's side, because vampires are not actors pretending to be human, pretending to be vampires, and they certainly do not sparkle...But we can keep the good looks, lol.

It's a must read for fans of humor and vampires, and people who thought WTF?! after reading the sparkly vampire books.

Went into this book thinking it will be a fun and goofy read.

I find the structure of the book confusing. It jumps from present and past and different scenes without proper organization. It is just all over and place and i just couldn't keep up. The characters weren't intriguing enough for me to want to continue reading. Thought it would get better throughout the book but it didn't. Gave up 3/4 way through.

This book didn't work out for me unfortunately.

Funny, funny, funny, funny! Easy to read, hard to put down.

This book is basically a comedy. No deep meanings or major event. Just a bit of dark comedy.

That said, the book was quite enjoyable and fast paced. Of course with plenty of laughs. The story is about a vampire more akin to the Brom Stoker variety. The goals of life have little to do with what someone with a good or neutral alignment would think. Even "help" isn't done the way that most humans would think of. Our main character loses a good 300 yrs, and wakes up to modern times. He finds that modern vamps aren't what they should be, and pretty much a disgrace of a vampire. So he sets solve the problem. Of course he is succumbed to requiring the assistance of a young women and her brother.

This is definitely a book worth reading if looking for something light-hearted and funny. Particularly for those who enjoy the pokes at the modern image of vampires. Even the sparkly ones.

This book was so much fun! I kind of want to read it again because the style took me a while to get used to. But I stuck it out and I'm glad I did! I was charmed by disgusting old vampires, a coma patient, and a little boy who may be a psychopath? I don't know, but it was a great ride.

A fresh, new (old) take on vampires. Yulric Bile is a terrible, terrible person (thing?), but somehow he's understandable, even occasionally likable in his quest to destroy the modern, beautiful, sparkly vampire. McDoniel is consistently funny in chronicling the adventures of Yulric, Amanda, and Simon. Basically, if you like any vampire books (and have any sort of a sense of humor), or humor books (and don't think vampires can't be funny), you should read this book.

Perfect October read. This is a light, funny quick book. I found it fairly original, and a fun way to spend a weekend.
