The ending is everything. It had me at the edge of my seat. The whole way through was an adventure. I love the characters. This book made me laugh and cry. It is my favorite book of the year so far.

I liked this book more than the first (Throne of Glass). It had a more in-depth and complicated plot, but it was very confusing to me. Even in the end, when I found out
Celaena was really Aelin
. I feel like I need to re-read this book to fully understand it (I’m not going to). I did like the twist at the end revealing that
Archer was actually behind it all
. I also thought that this book was more interesting because there was more magic. It reminded me more of ACOTAR. Overall, it was good, just confusing and I need a bit more clarification when it comes to heavy plots.

I wanted to read this book as I’ve never read any of Sarah J. Maas’s work and I was interested to see what the hype was all about. I was kindly gifted this series and A Court of Thorns and Roses by my parents. So I thought to start at the beginning. I really enjoyed the first book in this series so thought I would carry on with this series. This book was action-packed.

This book still follows seventeen-year-old Celaena Sardothien who is the royal assassin and is the King of Aralan’s deadliest weapon. She must win her freedom through his enemies’ blood. There is a slight problem though – she cannot bear to kill for the crown and so with every death Celaena fakes, every lie she tells, she is putting herself and the ones she loves at risk. She is also torn between her two protectors – a captain and a prince – and they are battling a dark force far greater than the king. Celaena must decide what she will fight for: her liberty, her heart or the fate of a kingdom. This is a young adult fantasy novel with a hint of romance.

I still bloody love Celaena – she just makes me go like “YESSS WOMEN!!” I just want her to be happy but also absolutely kick ass. I loved reading this book from the multiple point of views which were Celaena’s, Chaol’s and Dorian’s – it made the storyline interesting and kept me hooked. Also where can I get a Chaol? Please? I loved his overprotectiveness but also that he feared Celaena – I can just imagine them happy and living life somewhere remote and I really want it to happen. I would also die for Fleetfoot, I was more upset when Fleetfoot got injured than the other main characters. I’m saying this without knowing any of the events in the next books – if anything happens to Fleetfoot, I will riot.

The book left you with enough drama that it didn’t feel rushed but also left you wanting more that it keeps you hook to read the next book. I don’t believe they isn’t any weakness to this book I just don’t think it’s going to be the best of the series. I would recommend this to anyone who likes kick-ass girls, fantasy novel and dystopian novels.
