Creepy and atmospheric, and the illustrations were beautiful! I didn't like how they cut off a bit in the center because of the book binding, so hopefully that changes in the finished copy.
This book was so atmospheric and honestly so sad. A great read for the spooky season!

A great book with a different format and intriguing topic to spark conversations with students who have read it. A quick read and good for those who love graphic novels and want to start exploring more traditional novels as well.
This touching little read blends the epistolary format and the graphic novel in a really neat way. The artwork is really pleasing, and the overall style is really enjoyable. It's not a particularly unique story, but the delivery makes up for it.
This book is pretty confusing. I really like how both story-lines come together in a way. I really like the illustrations. Yet the ending is very confusing. Did Mary kill Ella or was she simply stuck by lightning? I understand that Mary committed suicide but that part still confuses me. The ending made me think that Thornhill worked a little like the Maitlands' house in Beetlejuice. Once you die there you can't get out. I think that the doll concept is a little creepy but intriguing nonetheless. I always thought that Mary was very depressed and if she died she would be happy. Yet she seemed less depressed when she wrote:" ... and hope that one day someone will care enough to read it and that one day someone will understand". This line made her seems less suicidal and more likable to me.
