In The Silvered Serpents, Roshani Chokshi picks up the story where The Gilded Wolves left off, showing the repercussions of Séverin’s choices in the first novel. The group faces their loss full frontal as they conquer a new heist with even higher stakes than before. Throughout their quest to find the one item that could save not only Laila’s life, but also Séverin’s sanity, questions arise regarding mortality, self-worth, and status.
Chokshi brings back her intricate world-building into a masterpiece of a sequel that can actually be considered better than the first. Her inspiring intellect flows through the pages, and while math tends to hurt my brain, I truly enjoyed revisiting this group of geniuses. While when reading the first novel, I could not decide whom I would consider my favorite of the group, but while reading the sequel, I realized that all I wanted was for someone to tell Zofia that they needed her and give her sugar cookies. I only discovered The Gilded Wolves at the very end of last year, but this series has easily become one of my top three favorite book series. Chokshi’s ability to present characters with extremely realistic PTSD and autism will never cease to amaze me. Her diverse cast kept me at the edge of my seat for the entirety of the novel. While I usually only highlight one or two phrases on my Kindle e-books, I ended up with thirteen highlighted passages in The Silvered Serpents. This highly quotable sequel will appeal greatly to fans of the first novel, of heist stories, and of diverse characters. During a time of great social unrest, this book will truly make readers sit back and question their own preconceptions.

Very good, though the changes in the characters were hard for me to accept. But changes are a part of life. Still a great magical, mysterious world. Some questions were answered and some remain for the next book. Recommended if you like fantasy set in out actual world, found family, and magical mystery.
A little slow in some parts, especially the first half, but all around very enjoyable. The ending, in particular, had my heart pounding. I can't believe it ended like that. I'll definitely be picking up the next book. My one complaint, really, is the lack of focus on Hypnos. I would love for him to have been a POV character outside of just the two epilogues we've seen. He deserved to be a POV character in this book.

Young me was just salty that I didn’t get the gay, current me realizes a bit better where this book is gonna go, and I’m not mad at all. 5 stars this time

Enjoyed for the most part. Some parts were exciting while some were not quite as interesting. Definitely have the next book on hand, leaves off on one hell of a cliffhanger!
The writing style is really, really well done!

Let me start off with saying I'm so mad at myself and Roshani for keeping me up until 2am to finish this book only for it to end on a cliffhanger. I was at 30% this morning and when I got to about 40% I couldn't stop.
The storyline is amazing. It builds perfectly upon the first book and is a lot faster with problems happening so it keeps you longing for more.
The characters are, I think, a few of my favourites ever. The way they act is amazingly fitting with the situations they go through and it's so easy to understand them and feel strongly about them.
I love the mystery in this book a lot, it's more and deeper than in the first and still shoots me from one idea to another. When I think I have an idea of what's happening, something is already happening next and idk my head is still spining. I'm just so amazed by it. This is quickly becoming a new favorite series of mine

There was something missing this whole book, and it wasn't Tristain. Severin was annoyingly whiny and in his own world for basically the whole book. The resolution was to clear from early on. The puzzles the team had to solve seemed quite obvious to me, the reader, and for a group of really smart puzzle-solvers, they took their time with them... I liked this slightly better than the last, but I think that's only because I came into this with at least some sense of who the characters were. There was a lot of recapping, which felt forced.
