Full review to come tomorrow because I stayed up way too late to finish this book. It’s no secret that I love daddy kink books but that i’ve been struggling to find some that work for me lately, but good news is this one really worked for me. This is a low angst and fluffy daddy kink book. There isn’t much happening but there was enough conflicts coming from the plot that it alsays kept me engaged. I went into this book wanting a sweet, low angst daddy kink book with a whole lot of fluff and insta love, which is exactly what I got, which is why I really enjoyed reading this book and it was all I wanted it to be.
I received an ARC of this book, and this is my honest review.

“I’m never leaving you like that again,” he said softly. “Please don’t ask it of me.”
2.5 stars. I don't think this was very good and I don't know how much I enjoyed it... but I did read it with a kind of awestruck glee? And that combination of words is gonna give the wrong impression so I'm going to immediately reiterate: I don't think this was very good. I wanted something light to read after a pretty heavy fantasy read, and this is where I landed. It was bonkers in a way I do not know that the author intended it to be. It's unhinged, but in a very calm way. Like, the characters are doing wild shit, but they're also doing it responsibly and ethically with a lot of communication, so it maybe doesn't seem so unhinged. But it is. To me. And I don't dislike that? See like, I like obsessive/possessive shit in romance, but I prefer it when the characters REALISE that they are bonkers. Is that the case with these guys? I don't know... The book has stuff that FEELS like it should be in a dark romance, but it's not dark.
IDK man I'm typing myself into a hole. I am giving the wrong impression of this book. It's about a cancer survivor who starts dating his doctor LOL. Well, ex-doctor; they cut those doctor/patient ties pretty soon. It's age gap, pretty low angst, not quite insta love because they've known each other for years, but all the barriers to their relationship are external, and they get together pretty early. Austin is just getting out of his first relationship, trying to get a sense of normalcy in his life. Malcolm has some serious overbearing protector tendencies, but like in a good way, so it's fine? LOL?
Some spoilery thoughts.
- My love was completely his. This line comes at 48%, and it's been like... two weeks? Three? I don't know, the progression of time wasn't clear. In any case: calm down my brother.
- When Malcolm goes off to the conference by himself, and leaves Austin to take care of himself, I thought that would be the start of some growth, and they would stop being quite so codependent, but NOPE. Austin got appendicitis, Malcolm feels terrible, and the lesson they took away from that is that actually no, Malcolm and Austin should never separate ever. :) I'm not criticising this or yucking anyone's yum; I just think it's very very funny. And who am I kidding; I love romanticised codependency.
- Also like... when Austin loses his job and becomes financially dependent on Malcolm. I thought that would be a temporary thing, but NOPE. Malcolm just wants to take care of him forever. Austin doesn't need his own money. :) And when Austin DOES get his own money, (through a lucky inheritance) he resolves to... give it all away... because he's content with having Malcolm take care of him... LMAO. Incredible stuff. They are so OTT obsessed with it each other, I'm dying.
- Look, I realise this book isn't trying to be the paragon of healthy relationships (and it shouldn't! it doesn't need to try to be anything it isn't!) but one thing I do wish is that the secondary characters had had more presence on page. Austin has a little found family, but they pretty much disappear after the first few chapters. We're meant to feel like Austin develops a real bond with Mr. Evans, but they barely have any scenes together. I just think fostering more of a sense of community would have made this feel a little less insane.
- But does this NEED to feel less insane? Lol. Who knows. It wouldn't be the same book. God, even the cover makes me feel crazy. Malcolm is staring into my soul... he wants to be a caretaker so bad...
- Also I keep picking up daddy kink books somehow. But like I always say, once it's not a woman saying the word 'daddy', I'm good.
Listened to the audiobook as read by Iggy Toma, and it was really good! Not my favourite from him, in terms of acting and performance, but pretty good. I had started out reading this with my eyeballs, and I didn't love the writing, so the audiobook is really what carried me through this. For better or worse, lol.

DNF 48%. This is just boring.
I don't buy the relationship, at all. There's zero chemistry between the MCs, everyone is a 2D character.

Cute. I like how well they communicated.

I very nearly passed on this book, despite wanting to read the rest of the series, because age gap books where one of them is underage when they meet toe a line I don't like to approach. But it was pretty clear that the interest didn't start on either side until he was well out of his teens, so I stuck with it. Nothing spectacular, nothing terrible, just a meh.
Short, easy to read, and entertaining without being complex. It was an ideal read for a sick day, so while I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for something substantial, this is great if you want a pure category romance.
This is an endearing and engaging age gap romance! You cannot help but adore both Malcom and Austin right from the start. I enjoyed that it was a bit of an insta love given when the book is starting. They have been doctor and patient, but Austin had been very young so the feelings are actually just starting to develop. The is fast paced which keeps you reading! The sweet yet steamy chemistry of these two just never stops! Adorable little Austin is a virgin who is so eager and ready for experiences! Malcom is the perfect teacher for some light Daddy love!!! The story is told from both POV so you get to experience both sides of the slightly taboo relationship. Malcom handles everything professionally first though! I received an ARC Of this book and I recommend for those who enjoy an age gap romance between two guys who are both very selfless and loving with each other and everyone around them.. their friends and family offer some good humor too , especially Malcom's bother Abe! Cannot wait for the next book now since I read this one so fast!
