I expected to like it more than I did, but my son loved it. Reminded me a bit of Curious George, and after a bit, I found it tiresome...knowing Paddington would find a way to make a mess or get in trouble. But I guess kids relate to the best intentions going wrong. I also expected more character development of the family, having heard so much praise about this series. Perhaps in later books.

it's a kids book, so obviously i didn't enjoy it much. i only read it because michael bond is born on my birthday and guess what day today is?

A Kate and mommy read. Cute, not my favorite. But I think Kate enjoyed it and will be happy that Paddington is a SERIES. Never knew that. Kate also decided that Paddington is probably around the same age as her, 7 :-)

This Audiobook was the bomb.

I never read these as a kid, but it's come up in conversation recently so I thought I'd give it a go. I listened to the audiobook version read by Stephen Fry so that was a treat. Solid kid's story, but nothing incredibly captivating to me or amazing life lesson. I probably wouldn't buy it for my kids, but I'd read it to them if they were gifted the books. (If they ever exist.)

I had moderately high hopes for the book, I thought it'd be a cutesy children's novel with a lovely bear. But it was just exasperating, the bear has high morality but absolutely no common sense and it just ends up being annoying chapter after chapter. How the family doesn't find him insufferable is beyond me.

Asked my friends to recommend a book that was easy to read and cute. They suggested Paddington and I'm very glad for it because this book definitely fit the bill.

This paperback copy sat in the middle of the 'free' shelf at the local library branch, and so I took it to read to Purlewe. After reading aloud the first chapter to her, I read the rest of it silently - I couldn't put it down, it was like eating some of my favorite comfort food. I remember reading Paddington while stretched out on the warm floor under one of my parents' guest room beds.

Pretty entertaining - the adventures of the Peruvian talking bear. My 8 year old was enchanted.
