"just remember i'll have known that, deep down inside, you were just enough of a bastard to be worth liking."

this was hands down the funniest book i've ever read. terry pratchett and neil gaiman are literally both hilarious and i thoroughly enjoyed good omens, even if i did watch the tv series on prime first. i think it actually helped me understand the book better, actually.

"that's because people trying to sort it out were men."

the story follows several points of view, which can be confusing at first, but once you get your head around it, it makes sense. aziraphale and crowley are two opposing forces trying to combat armageddon from the antichrist, and so many things go wrong, and so many things go ... right? this book literally made me laugh out loud in places (luckily not in public, thank god), but i honestly had such a blast reading it.

I wish I liked this more, but I honestly thought the series was more enjoyable because I’m more of a fan of Aziraphale and Crowley than the rest of the other characters. Plus, there was some mild to moderate racism and fatphobia, so I’m glad that got cut from the series.

This is one of my favorite books that I read almost every year. The humor is just amazing. I love the interactions between all the different characters and I enjoyed reading every single character. Aziraphale and Crowley are fantastic main characters who really help keep the mood of the book right on point. The one bit a beef I have with this book is (relatively unimportant to the main storyline spoiler)
why was the scene between Anathema and Newton necessary. It just feels like weirdly misogynistic.

I would 1000% recommend this book to others who are looking for a fun book with fantastical elements.

2019: This book was hilarious. I wish I could have read it all closer together so I would have gotten the full impact of it, instead of having to get back into it. I know I’ll enjoy it even more on my next read.

2023: Still loved this book, but boy howdy I didn’t remember how badly a lot of it aged. But I did love reading it after watching the show, and picturing the actors and hearing their voices. Made it even better.

I would usually not say this, but just watch the TV show! It removes most of the offensive elements and it’s way easier to follow.

I'm glad to have finally read this (it's a good choice for audiobook, although long) and might revisit the show now. The satire is still entertaining, but a lot of the humor has aged pretty poorly, so the truly funny moments were few and far between.
