It's a good plot and many different threads that are tied together in the end. For my personal opinion however, the way it is written is much to technical. It feels like you need multiple years of experience in military to be able to fully understand all acronyms and all equipment names. And I think because of this, I found the subplots on the submarines and ships to be quite dull and difficult to get through and comprehend.
The reason I haven't gotten into Tom Clancy books is the extreme technical detail he gets into. Debt of Honor is no different from others I've read by him. It has a great plot, but it's buried in between pages and pages and pages of techical details about subs and ships, radar and torpedos, fighters, bombers, helicopters, nuclear weapons, the lists goes on and on. That said, I slogged through it all because the story itself was great. And then the whole thing ends with an amazing cliffhanger, that had me immediately grabbing for its sequal, Executive Orders, which so far, has been mostly devoid of this level of detail, and which I am enjoying far more.

The last third went a heck of a lot quicker than the first two thirds. There was so much financial information that 99% of it went over my head and made my eyes glaze over. But I had read Executive Orders within the last year and knew what was coming, therefore made sure I finished it so I could truly know what happened. I definitely preferred the Tokyo parts with Clark and Chavez the most, and Portagee on Saipan. It was very well written and a very intriguing story, I personally did not like all the technical information on economics and aircraft/subs/ships. But they are par the course for a Clancy novel.

Read and listened to this one on the Kindle (and hard back). Story got slow at times, but it picked up. Jack Ryan does it again!! At the end of this one, it took me by surprise. The military facts and data good. Some old friends from the past show up in this one making the story that much more enjoyable.
