I loved this book. Written so well, it just flowed from page to page. A beautiful story that was sad but also uplifting.

If I had to rate all of Lisa Jewell's books I've read to date, this is easily my favorite. It's so different from any of her other novels. Not only is this mysterious and captivating like her other works, but this is poignant, touching, and it moved me to tears numerous times. This is beautifully written and deserves a lot more attention. If you liked The Family Upstairs, this had a similar vibe, but much better in my opinion. This is a lot different than my typical reads, but sometimes a slow burn mystery that punches me in the feels is just what I need.

I have been slowly reading my way through all of Jewell's books and I can honestly say this one has been my least favorite. I don't know what went south for me in regard to this novel but I was just bored and uninterested.

I did really enjoy the dual timelines that were used to bring the story together. I did also think that Melody had good character development! I was just bored. No twists or turns, no dramatic pause, it was just okay. But I will say, this isn't really a mystery or a thriller. I would say it could be more contemporary with mystery elements. If I would have double checked that myself, I may have gone into this differently!

I'd read a couple of Lisa Jewell's books before and got a copy of this free with a magazine, but because I had gone off chick lit, I never read it.

I don't know why because it was brilliant. Nothing like her previous books. She manages to extract Melody's tale in such a way that you just have to keep reading to know what she finds out about her past next.

I honestly felt as if I were walking alongside Melody on her journey into the past as she tried to make sense of the flashes of memories that invaded her mind and as she slowly began to put them into order.

Some of the subjects within the plot are quite hard to read about, but the way in which Jewell deals with them is sensitive and with respect.

I highly recommend this book, not just to chick lit lovers, but to anyone who likes a well written story that unfolds layer by layer.

Love Lisa Jewel characters. She is very good at using changing time lines to tell her stories and keep them interesting.  Not the usual “adult finds out that she was adopted” story. On a first date to see a hypnotist show, turns the key that begins unlocking her past. It’s quite a journey with a feel good ending.
