Very unusual story. A whole different view of life that I loved reading/listening to.

Like a floral arrangement, this book evokes a vast range of feelings in an indescribably beautiful way. The Language of Flowers is also informative - I hadn’t realized flowers’ connections to language before reading this book. Worth purchasing, rereading, and admiring.

Good read, learning about the Victorian use of flower meanings.

I keep thinking about this story, so I’m upgrading from a 4 to 5 star review.

This book was lent to me by our school nurse. She's awesome. The story was easy to enter, the characters sympathetic, and I loved the flowers and their meanings.

Everyone of us females has a story. Some more dramatic than others. But this story brought out every emotion in me. I was rooting so badly for Victoria. With her triumphs I cried with her failures I was angry at her. But never once did I give up on her. The goodness was in her core and she proved no matter what people can surprise us. The power of love, as destructive as it can sometimes be is still worth it. Trusting those around you can be frightening. Victoria shows us there is great healing power in love and trust. I will never look at flowers the same way again.

I gave this book a two star rating because I didn't connect with the characters. I am glad that I read this book because it made me aware of flower dictionaries. I think I would have preferred reading more about the author, her research regarding flower dictionaries and also her experiences being a foster parent.

Aw, man...Diffenbaugh, dang! I had high, high hopes for this one. It's been hyped, and others I know loved it. I can't say I didn't like it, but I wanted it to be so much more than it was. I will say that perhaps it had something to do with the audio narrator. I just didn't care that much about the characters. It has everything I love in a book. Dysfunctional family? Check. Coming-of-age? Check. Dealing with life against shitty odds? Check. But, it really fell short for me. I felt like it could have been so much more than it was, but maybe it's just me. I'm hovering again, as usual. 2 stars? 3? Ergh.
