Decent sex and lots of it, but Jack's lack of faith in Mira and his self-hatred really wore on my nerves.

Very good, and verrrrrry steamy. Loved the way the plot and the sex entwined. Nicely done.
adventurous dark emotional fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

This was a good read, and I will continue on with the series as soon as I get the rest of them. I liked the characters, Mira was a good character and Jack was a fine love interest. I did like how she grew into her powers, and hope to see them in later books.

This is the first book I've read by Anya Bast, and I enjoyed it. It started strong and ended strong with some interesting aspects throughout the book.

The characters are well-written, likeable (except for the bad guys of course!) and multi-faceted and just flawed enough to keep you wondering what they might do next.

The sex scenes that Bast writes are extremely explicit, lengthy and detailed. While sex in a story like this is an expected and required feature, and I enjoy them as much as the next person, at some points during the book I almost felt like the story was written to accommodate and fit with the sex scenes instead of the sex complementing the plot, which for me is how it should work.

But that's a small complaint really. I enjoyed the story and ending was more than satisfying, with sufficient threads left hanging for the next book in the series, but with a proper, thorough resolution for Mira's story. It's one of my pet peeves when an author leaves you hanging by your fingernails on the edge of a cliff with the story, when you know you'll have to wait for the next book, sometimes months! I always give extra credit to authors who give you an actual ending to their books!

I also like the "element magic" aspect of the book, and am hoping that Bast goes more into this, and the "world" she sees her characters inhabiting in future books. Those of us who like the paranormal world usually want to understand the world(s) at least as much as we want to fall in love with the characters who live in them.

All in all, I enjoyed Witch Fire. It's a fast easy, entertaining read, and I am looking forward to Witch Blood the next installment of this series.

The book was interesting but had way too much emphasis on sex scenes for my taste. I was almost a third way through before the story got past the four sex scenes while well written it was annoying after a while. But the story did pick up and became interesting. I will read the next book to see if I really like this author or not.

this book had some very steamy scenes but not enough to fully engage me into the plot. It was written well and I liked that the characters were older but I couldn't really connect. It was overall an enjoyable read but I dont think I will continue on with the series.

I just found the sex scenes in this book too numerous and long in comparison to the story. I actually skipped and skimmed all of them in last half of the book. This is a personal taste issue. What I read was not bad if you are into it.

I enjoyed this book. But only gave it 3 stars as I found it seemed to stop in places and felt like a chore to read occasionally.

So, sometimes when you go to the 'used books' section of your local thrift store, you start grabbing books like a mad person because some are only a dollar or twenty-five cents. Yes, you read correctly. That day was a wonderful day for me...not so much for my wallet, though.

Basically, this book took me back to my younger years when I was obsessed with the hit T.V. show, Charmed. Witch Fire was originally published back in 2007, many things have changed, (i.e. technology,) but overall, I enjoyed it quite a lot. That's why this original book is receiving a 3.5/5 from me.

I loved how all of the elements, (earth, air, fire, water) were used in this book; each witch has an element, which is their power or magick. Mira, the main character, has the element of air.

She is one of the strongest and rarest air witches out there. And of course, what is an air witch without her fire witch?

That's where things get a little sexy and steamy when Jack McAllister is added to the equation. I mean, the opening like to this story is:

"He looked like and seemed like salvation."

I mean, after getting out of a messy divorce with your ex, telling yourself you'll stay away from men for a while... having that thought the very first time you see the fire witch, is definitely a big intro to this heated relationship between Mira and Jack.

Of course, between all of this sexual tension, there is bad out there in the witch world and is after the rarest air witch out there, guess who? Long story short, there is a very, very bad dude, a warlock, after element witches to basically suck the magic out of the witches, summon a demon, for said evil warlock needs. Dude's dying, he wants to live longer, but there are more witches, strong witches living in the Coven, who will stop at nothing to defeat this evil. As soon as you start reading, you can't stop. You get sucked into the plot.

Witch Fire is a thrilling, sexy, paranormal, magical, and fun quick read. You get lost in the fire and you happily get burned.
