I loved the emotional journey these characters went through together and individually to come together in the end. I sort of wished that she could have proved her devotion without it being through the act, and that could have created a space for him to be confident in himself and his value and thereby be able to perform. But only a slight digression :)

I also love story arcs and concurrent timelines in different books. I can't wait to read the other stories for the Sinful Wallflowers!

This was my first book I’ve read from Stacy Reid and it made me laugh and cry and bing read it all in a day. I know, don’t judge a book by its cover but I wasn’t expecting the amount of depth in this book.

This regency era novel is about a few “decrepit 23 year old” friends that have been around the dating scene for a few seasons and know it’s not going to get any better for them. So instead of being “wallflowers”, they all decide to take life into their own hands and do something “wickedly daring” that they would never dream of. Which leads to Katherine (Kitty) to start a rumor that she is the reclusive dukes new fiancée. Starting this rumor in hopes that she can help her younger sisters find suitable matches to save their family from ruin. This certain Duke has disappeared from society for the last 6 years after an accident causes disabilities, but finds out about this rumored engagement and becomes curious. I won’t say anything more but this book was both well written and heartwarming. Loved it ♥️

If I thought I loved historical romance before, I had never read Stacy Reid.

Was this the best historical I’ve ever read, I’m thinking absolutely yes. Beside the fact it has some of my all time favourite tropes, only one bed, Dark relationship, grumpy hero and sunshine heroine, this beautiful story also felt so real and raw.

Alexander’s injuries and subsequent disabilities are so well written and the way he and Kitty fall in love and that she loves all of him, not despite his disability but because if it, it’s part of him.

I was so afraid that this book would resolve with ‘and he was miraculously healed by her love’. While Kitty’s presence in his life makes it so much better, he will always be disabled and they make it work.

It was just so beautiful I couldn’t put it down. I am desperate for more in this series and cannot wait to dive into all of Stacy’s precious work!
