This one is a decent historical (WWII) story. Lots of characters and emotions throughout the book. It jumps between two storylines/timelines so that takes a bit to understand. I think the modern storyline part could have been better done but the WWWII story was quite captivating.

I had no idea what it was about
probably a good thing as I’m not one for choosing to read about the wartime but this book as made me think again about being open to doing so. I listened to the audio version - again probably a good thing as I wouldn’t have read Eliane’s chapters in my head in a french accent. I just think the book was really lovely, though I think a little more on Abi’s story wouldn’t have gone amiss. I recommend if you’re not sure what to read or want to try a slightly different genre

Such a beautiful and informative book. I felt like I was right there with the characters, will definitely be looking into more from this author.
Poor character development, cheesy and meaningless flipping between WWII and 2017. Not sure why I finished it - probably because I have a hard time giving up on a book!
Beautifully written and moving novel that moves between the stories of Abi in 2017 modern day France and Eliane during the occupied France of World War 2. Both women are fighting their own personal battles, with the France of both timelines brought vividly to life as the stunning backdrop to their heartbreaking and emotional tales.
