I thought the way they first meet was really cute. The whole shirt mix up thing at the beginning was a little contrived, and what happened to the "Go Fish" was never really explored, but the relationship felt very real.

Reading this book is a pleasant way to pass a few summer hours.

The cover is so adorable and I love how the word Happy curves up! So, so adorable! I cannot wait to read this- it sounds just like my type >.<

*EDIT
I forgot to write a review of this after I read it (hits head). I enjoyed it and if I remember correctly, it moved a bit slowly and I wish that it revealed what happened after the ending because it just didn't satisfy me. Overall, a cute story from Jennifer E. Smith as always. :)

Really wonderful!

I received this novel for my birthday and read it in one sitting. After teen star Graham Larkin accidentally e-mails regular teen Ellie, the two start an anonymous correspondence that grows into an unlikely friendship. He's so taken with her that he selects her Maine hometown as the location of his next movie. They finally meet in person... and that's just the beginning. Relationships are broken and mended, and long-kept secrets are exposed, and it's all beautiful and real. I LOVED this book.

Had I read this when I was in middle school, this book would have gotten 5 stars from me. Of course, when I was in middle school the internet was far less established than it is now -- we didn't have a computer and I had no email address at all until my freshman year of high school -- so this story wouldn't have worked out in quite the same way. But it closely mimics the idea of how I imagined things would go if I ever somehow managed to run into Jonathan Taylor Thomas out there in the real world (which would mean he would have to come to my small town in downeast Maine, since I never left there). I'd treat him like a real person, not a movie star, because obviously he's tired of people fawning all over him and somehow I'm the only one who is able to hold it together and we'll end up together.

And I'm sure many other young girls had exactly the same ideas in their heads.

This book hit all the clichés.

Which is why, now that I'm 31 instead of 13, the book only gets 3 stars from me.

Don't get me wrong. The book was still super cute. It was a fast, easy summer read that warmed my heart in all the right places despite me wanting to scream at the characters for being so stupid. I liked the email correspondence and how it played a part in the story but that most of the story was told in narrative rather than relying solely on correspondence (those types of books never seem to work for me). I both love and hate the way the ending of the story
Spoileris left up in the air for the reader to decide what will happen to their relationship in the future. Was it just a summer fling, or can it turn into something more?

I really disliked the extra drama with her father. It sort of ruined the "normal girl meets movie star boy" storyline for me, since she wasn't really a normal girl (though her mother really wanted her to be). I feel like their could have been a different sort of (more normal) father drama.

Anyway, cute story, fast read, brought back some nostalgia for simpler days.

I would give this book three and a half if possible. I liked it, I just might not read it again. It was a cute story but it didn't grab me completely and took me a bit to finish it.

This book barely made an impact on me. I hardly even remembered reading it, and had to search up random keywords.

The entirety of the plot is quite boring- it falls into the same category of movie star boy-meets-girl in small town. Really, the only thing saving this book from just a one star was the witty little banter in their e-mails at the beginning.
