this was a solid 4 stars until the end

i didn’t like the way they gaslit MK at the end. they clearly were telling the truth and it’s MK that’s mistaken, but i still did not like they way they were talking to her at all no no no no

other than that though, the book was fun and compelling, though juvenile at times but the characters are like 18-23 it seems so i guess it fits

but also why does her name have to be Madison Kate? why can’t she just have one name she goes by? it’s silly and exhausting lol (sorry to all of the people that go by two names out there)
dark fast-paced

It's a good thing I like these tropes and I will probably read the whole series because they read quickly and I don't want to really delve into anything too deeply.

I think I prefer fantasy or SF to contemporary RH bully romance books just because there is a bit more creativity.  Plus the storylines require a serious suspension of belief so why not go all the way and throw in some magic, monsters and shifter fae shit as well?

slow-paced

This was okay … it got off to an exciting start … then went pretty slowly for the bulk of it.
We’ve got some fun elements - murder-mystery, ‘bad boys’, rich kids, drama, of the life-ending / life-altering kind, not just kid stuff.

The female lead who was turned on by torture and murder isn’t really my thing, and there was nothing original here, so I’m not sure I need to read the rest of the series.

‘Academy’ setting. (College.)
Young Adult.
Rich kids.
House of Horrors.
MMA fighting.
Corruption.
Murder-mystery.
Stalking.
Danger.
Gangs.

Overall: An easy listen, with a few dark elements, and a pinch of excitement.
3 stars.

🎧 Audio
Fantastic audio, complete with, at times, sound effects. Very smooth production.
5 stars.

This was so addicting. I loved seeing a forced proximity. The cliffhanger?!? This was funny as well. I do have to say I hate how they say Madison Kate, idk it just annoys

I’m loving the start of this series. Going into this book I thought I was going to be reading straight up smut because i’m a slut for a reverse harem. But nawww… this barely has spice.

The plot though is soooo good. It kinda reminds me the devils night series in a small way because of the way the story began surround the Halloween event. The FMC, Madison Kate, is surrounded by 3 MMC who are her enemies/love interest.

I’m loving the characters so far. I can’t tell if I like Kody or Steele more. So much tension, so much secrets, so many questions. The endinggg made me immediately pick up the 2nd book.

I would give this book a 4.5 stars. I loved how fast paced it was, and how it constantly kept me engaged. The reason I gave ir 4.5 stars and not 5.5 was because it’s not a book I am dying to read over and over. Loved it but for me it’s a book i can read once and be fine with that.
