Tate James did it again.
After a month of DNF'ing books, because they were frankly awful, I devoured this in one sitting because I couldn't put this down.
The Writing is excellent and intriguing. There is no info dumping in weird places and that last chapter knocked me off my chair. Beware, there is a very patented Tate James cliffhanger at the end of the book which is part of the course.
There are some aspects I personally didn't like too much, but it definitely didn't affect my overall enjoyment of the book and I can't wait for the rest of the series.

Sigh my dumb self bought the whole series thinking I was going to love it.... I was wrong in so many ways...
Listennnnn.... I was locked in for the revenge plot after girly was framed for possible murder and destruction of property but.... after she came back she simply reminded me of an angry Pomeranian who was all bark and no bite... and when she did bite that shit wouldn't even hurt.
The writing was mid, the characters were so fucking unlikable, and mid we through the book the plot was abandoned for this new "stalker" plot that came out of no where... I'm sure it had a reason even if it won't be good enough.
One thing that pmo so bad was how easily Madison Kate was able to forgive the weirdest shit. She forgave her best friend, WHO DIDN'T FUCKING TESTIFY FOR HER INNOCENCE, and yet couldn't give the people who put her there? Like at least be fucking consistent.
Not to mention Madison Kate is so angry at these guys yet constantly wants to sleep with them? Is that really how women think? Like am I just a separate gender atp? Why... in the ever-loving god of dark romance do women always want to sleep with men who treat them like garbage instead of sticking up for themselves... idk if I'm cut out to be a dark romance girly cuz every time I read shit like this I feel like I'm in the trenches of the 1800s when women didn't have rights (lowkey we might be going back their anyways so who am I fucking kidding?).
AND THEN AND THEN THE GUY WHO MADISON KATE EVEN SEMI-LIKES.... SHE LETS HIM DO THE DIRTY AND THEN HE GOES AROUND AND FUCKING TELLS HIS BUDDIES?!?!?!? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Normally enemies to lovers isn’t my thing. I like the insta love way more which is why I was so slow to pick this one up. I had it on my shelf for months before finally starting it. And I was almost immediately hooked. Any spare moment I had I was reading it. I finished it in less than 24 hours and am now almost finished with book 2. It is so incredibly good and it keeps me interested. Usually when a story spans across more than 2 books I get bored because it’s a lot of filler. But this is good filler. It’s filled with spice and thrill. Hot banter and revenge. If you are a why choose fan I fully recommend picking this one up.

This book literally KO'ed me, twisted my little dark heart, and trampled all over it.
MK is probably the luckiest girl (fictionally) alive. Archer is a delicious bundle of grumpy fury. Steel is the constant lethal smirk. And Kody, oh Kody, my sweet, cheeky prince. I loved how their relationships all progressed at a different pace with MK and that it was totally okay for her to love them differently. Why-choose novels often force the MC to equally split her affections between their love interests. But thankfully MK can have all the angst and all the boys.
Oh- and the voice actors in the audiobook absolutely killed this, I think I swooned over Lucas Webley's every word.
