Very enjoyable hard sci-fi moments from start to finish. The title story is honestly my least favorite; the next few absolutely blow it out of the water. Really fantastic world building with the same level of skill writing dialogue as other Cixin Liu projects (not much, but that’s not what I’m here for!). “Mountain” was a personal favorite.
Stellar writing, amazing creative stories, interesting thought-provoking science. As always, could use more interesting female characters who drive the story instead of existing as manic pixie dream girls.
I just read the first story, The Wandering Earth. Very interesting and well told. I liked the first person perspective of someone who doesn’t have all the facts. He’s operating in a new world designed to value knowledge, and you see how that leads to complicity/complacency. But even within this new structure, the human condition is called into a stark light.
It’s cool to see this world and overarching situation through a single lens and have my own skepticism reflected, which seems like it was obviously intended.

Cuentos de ciencia ficción; y como en todo libros de cuentos, hay unos mejores que otros; pero en general el autor desarrolla ideas muy interesantes con respecto a hipotéticos futuros de la humanidad. El aspecto más fuerte de los relatos es la descripción de las situaciones casi apocalípticas en que se ven involucrados los personajes, las tecnologías que se usan y sus justificaciones técnicas.
