Really enjoyed this book! About a quarter in, I realized how familiar it sounded and then I realized I had seen the movie based off this book, I Thought My Husband’s Wife Was Dead (I had not idea at the time)..
Merritt & Luca have their dream house, owns restaurant, & expecting their second child. Their world is turned upside down when Lydia knocks on their door. Everyone is shocked considering Lydia, Lucas’ first wife has been missing for 10 years & was presumed dead. Revealing to them her horrific kidnapping & torturing experience, they listen intensely & agree to help her get back on her feet! However.. Merritt, Luca and Lydia has secrets that will break this dynamic unspeakable ways!
I enjoyed the alternating POVs from Merritt and Lydia. The narrators did a great job bringing life to these characters in the audiobook. Would recommend for domestic thriller fans that enjoy secrets, deception, and ulterior motives where nobody can be trusted!
For this book, I was so close to DNFing it. Honestly, I'm not sure why I didn't DNF it and kept listening/reading, but I'm glad that I did. This book is a mystery book and for the first half of the book at least I felt like nothing in the plot was really progressing. But at some point, I remember just getting hooked and there was more than one twist which I did not see coming! Definitely worth reading to the end! Even though I got a little lost in the middle, the end of the book really brought it home.
This book was alright but once I got through the beginning the twists were very predictable. I thought the main character had a very weird way of going about her “revenge” plan. It just seemed very tame for everything that she had went through. I wouldn’t say that this was much of a thriller for me.
