One giant oof. The plot of this story is well-worn ground, but many authors manage to breathe new life into it. That was not accomplished here. Dull, far fetched, predictable in all the wrong places.
Also - TWs for torture and obscenely casually discussed SA.
Two stars because I did actually manage to get through the whole book. If you’re going to give it a whirl go e-reader or physical copy. The audiobook is dreadful.

Okay I really enjoyed this book. Yes, it’s far-fetched. Yes, it’s unrealistic. Yes, it’s like watching a Lifetime movie unfold. But, nevertheless, I enjoyed reading this.
This is a very strong 3-star read for a few reasons.
I really enjoyed the setting, the coastal town, the restaurants, the place Lydia makes her home, all of it.
I also really liked our 2 FMC. I found myself rooting for both of them at different points. I enjoyed their internal monologues a lot which I can’t say for a lot of books.
The biggest plot twist I didn’t see coming *because* of the internal monologues, these bitches misguided us ON PURPOSE! and I loved that!
The writing was good, the plot was good, it was easy to read and I’m a happy girl. I’ll be checking out more of the author’s work in the future.
