I loved this book and can't wait to read the sequel. This is a non-magical fantasy.

I adored Corrick immediately, even though he is pretty ruthless. He's the definition of morally grey. I did figure out early on some of the plot, but that may have been intentional on the author's part. It didn't make me enjoy the book any less.

The relationship between Corrick and his brother was so sweet. I love when authors show families with good, strong relationships.

Romance: it's pretty clean. There is one scene that was almost too much, but it stopped before it crossed the line.

Violence: Definitely a lot of violence. Some detailed, some implied.

Very mild language.

idk if im just an asshole and a terrible person but this book felt like the author spent 400 pages desperately trying to prove how morally righteous and so super selfless Tessa and Wes are and honestly it was annoying lmao like damn

also that lil scene w everyone gushing abt all the things tessa did for them, if u know u know, like what the fuck was that if not the author trying to prove to u that her character is better than u ever will be
