I enjoyed reading this novel alot, but I took the rating down a bit because of Ayden. I get that people have troubled pasts and there are things you just can't forget. But I feel like it took her ages to start believing it could get better and then suddenly, she was all for it. It would've been a little bit better if that was built up gradually..
Overall, this was a good read, and I will definitely read the next two in the Marked Men companion novels!
3 generous ‘I almost DNFed a few times but stuck it out stars
Ok. So. This was my second read of this book. There was a time before I started writing reviews, and I was just scouting through who knows where to find books to read. At this time, I must have read this book... because there is no record of me reading this book, but I do have. While reading Rule I kept thinking, gosh, this is so familiar. Felt like deja but I couldn’t predict the story (well details, we all know a HEA is coming) but as I read it came back to me. So I thought, hmmm I know Rowdy from other books and Rome seems like a good read... but if Jet is next I will just stick it out in order. Bad call. I actually immediately remembered most of the big picture plot as I started this book and remembered how annoyed I was. Ayden is not given the opportunity to be liked here. I wanted to like her, but it just couldn’t come. I thought the old me new me was dumb, but I would have to talk to someone in that situation, maybe I am wrong and people actually think that way so seriously. The way they get their happy ever after at the end was also pretty rough for me. Total eye roll. I didn’t like Jet extremely much, he seemed sweet but I didn’t care for his tight pants. Lastly, and the thing that annoyed me the most was how unrealistic their meddling friends were. My girl friends would never speak to me that bluntly and insistently about a relationship that was a month long... or lend me that much money... and I am pretty sure men talk much less about that stuff. I just didn’t feel like there was a good male lens there at all or that it was realistic in the least the way they threatened and meddled.

I received a physical copy of this book from the publishers in exchange for participation in a blog tour as well as an honest review.
The second part to my TLC Book Tours review set is in the form of the sequel to Rule. I wasn't sure how the series was going to be laid out. Are we going to see mention of the previous characters or are the other characters going to mysteriously disappear like in some series? Is there going to be any reference to the interactions between Jet and Ayden in the first book or are they just going to be forgotten and glossed over? Am I going to love Jet and Ayden like I did Rule and Shaw? I was anxious to dive into Jet and find answers to some of these questions and get a feel for Jay Crownover as a new author.
Jet can't believe he lives across the hall from the Southern Belle goddess he longs for. Ever since she propositioned him and he grit his teeth and turned her down, they have had a tentative friendship. They are sociable and friendly but there is always that air of tension and heat surrounding them. Jet attempts to forget about his desires for Ayden by delving into as many members of the female populace as possible. It is a good distraction but it doesn't make him forget the long-legged beauty within touching distance. All he can do is vent his rage and frustration through casual sex and his love of music. Jet has demons and he can't allow the purity that is Ayden anywhere near that... or him.
Ayden is far from perfect. Her past haunts her and she is constantly mindful of herself. She cannot let the old, rambunctious Ayden out or she could risk losing everything she has ever worked for. She knows getting into any sort of relationship, whether it be sexual or emotional, with Jet would be a mistake. He is the type of guy that makes the old Ayden sit up and drool and the new Ayden's heart race.
Ayden and Jet's romance starts as their mounting attraction explodes and causes them to finally face facts. They are going to have to try being together in any way possible otherwise they may go out of their minds with longing. However, as Ayden and Jet are heating up, ghosts from Ayden's past start to reappear. She must decide whether to hold tight to Jet or let him go for his own good.
I definitely like this cover better than the first one. They made the character look exactly how I pictured Jet. They even got the gold ring around his eyes right. Perfect!
I cannot get enough of these books. The romance between the seeming bad boys and the good girls is the stuff of fantasies. I can't believe how easily I can picture all the hunky men in the Marked Men series. I found Jet and Ayden to be almost more of an awesome pair than Rule and Shaw. I did not, however, understand Ayden's need to hide her past. Ayden's past was no worse than most of the other character's. I mean, Jet's family was probably the worst of all in my opinion.
I love how Jay Crownover makes her characters complete polar opposites of each other in appearance or personality but then joins them together in much of their torment or desires (not just the physical kind but of course that is there too). Seeing Shaw and Ayden on the street (or in my mind as it is), I would probably not see them getting with heavily tattooed men such as Rule and Jet, but Jay pulls it all together and makes both couples absolutely dynamic. It's a skill not many writers are able to harness, so definite props to the author.
Jet is a sequel of epic proportions. It shows that love is love and there is no obstacles too great to overcome if the heart is at the forefront of the matter.

First Impressions
Jet is a story that brings together some great dynamics of a opposites attract romance. There is something so wonderful in reading from this author. I absolutely loved how this story was brought together. And while its not a perfect story especially in how the third act plays out, I really enjoyed how Crownover brought this book together. There are many dramatics in this romance that are implemented but there is such a strong connection between Jet and Ayden. There is some hidden conflicts with how their pasts come to them and how each of them face up to them and learning to stand for each other.
First Line
It was totally against everything I was supposed to be doing in my new life--to ask a really cute boy in a band to take me home.
Summary
Jet is a story that brings together a opposites attract story. This is a book where our hero is a rock star of sorts with unique tastes in metal. Our heroine, is a small town southern girl and these two couldn't have more differences in music that you could find. But there is a powerful chemistry between them. We see them build a solid friendship, and even though there is great chemistry between them, Ayden is in a relationship with a solid good man but who is dull for her and doesn't really do anything for her. But due to her past, Ayden is more about someone boring and dull, than for the excitement and thrill. Jet is determined to show her he is who she needs, and that no matter the mistakes in her past, to face them together and not alone. But Ayden has worked hard to be so independent, that it takes a patient Jet to help Ayden realize her own strength and the power in fighting for the one you love..
What I Loved
Jet was such a wonderful story, I absolutely had a blast with this one. And even though it wasn't perfect, this author is becoming my catnip even when there are elements in a story that aren't my favorite to read. Jay Crownover really adds more edge to the typical contemporary that I truly enjoy reading. The first aspect that I was first drawn to was the differences that set these apart but despite those differences these two are able to find their common ground. They might seem too difference on the surface, but it becomes clear very quickly how well they connect and what an intense connection that they have for each other.
I really adored the hero. He is a bit of a playboy in beginning, but he is a man that doesn't apologize and isn't ashamed about himself. The hero always is in a emotional battle with his parents as his father is abusive and his mother just accepts it. Then we have our heroine who has put herself in a image that showcases her being this bubbly nice girl, but in truth, she has made many mistakes in her youth. There are many dimensioins to the depths of these characters that I really enjoyed and Crownover really keeps you engaged with their growth. The romance between them is delectable. I was so easily drawn to their relationship, especially once they decide to go all in for each other. The hero is such a fighter for the relationship in the third act that just had me all over the place with him.
What I Struggled With
Probably not to anyone's shock, but I really didn't like the heroine especially in how she acts in the third act. I know this is how authors just love to add conflict into the story, but you can bet I won't give it a five star when its like this. The heroine burns the hero and guess who grovels??? Well its not the heroine. The hero does a grovel and he doesn't really have anything to apologize for. The heroine is a bit of a basket case mentally. I am not sure why she thinks Jet wouldn't understand, its not like he had a perfect home life or anything. So I do wish that we had seen more action on her part to fight for the relationship in the end.

Jet is a engaging, heartfelt, a bit of drama but plenty of spice and loveable characters to keep you all in for this pair and their journey to together....

I would first like to state that this rating is purely based on my enjoyment of the story. I think this story was not written bad, the grammar was on pare, and it flowed what appeared to be better than the first one. I simply didn't connect with the lead female in this story.
It is breaking my heart to write this review because I love Jet so much as a character. We actually got very little of him in the first book, I was a bit shocked to see his book next in the series. We get sort of a taste of this glowing rock star.
Well, Jay for sure gave us a big dose of awesomeness where Jet is concerned.
I realized when I tried to write this review right after I read it I struggled to find the words to explain why I was so upset with this book. I think I was upset Ayden's character evolution. I actually think she devolved emotionally. She was so well put together in the first book, and gave such helpful advice that when I saw how her character was slowly decaying from the inside out in this book--I felt she didn't deserve to have a happily ever after, but how quickly it seemed to happen made me laugh a little.
I mean if I suspended belief and totally just read this for the fantasy of perfect love, I STILL couldn't realize these two people together. Only because Jet ended up such a caring and compassionate person that when he was faced with the total emotional garbage that Ayden used as an excuse to not be with Jet--I was done. I kept reading only because I loved Jet so much. I almost feel bad for him.
I mean I'm pretty sure they will be in the background to look all perfect and glowing with a little bit of trouble here and there. I just felt for me, this story was unsatisfying. I am really hoping Rome's book is better. Considering I am totally Team Rome--it better be lol

I'd like to start of by saying that Jay Crownover has an aptitude for gritty, emotional stories. Just like the story of Rule and Shaw, both Jet and Ayden are dealing with personal demons while trying to work their relationship without destroying each other. They're the most opposite human beings on the planet but the heart wants what it wants.
The story hit home for me. The characters were so real. I found myself swooning, clutching the book to my chest and sometimes I wanted to rip this book into million pieces.
I won't say this story was better than Rule's amd Shaw's. These four characters might be friends but they are very different. They all had their uniqueness, flaws and secrets which will always make come back for more.

Haha, peace!
Haha, peace!
I am torn on how I feel about this book. Ayden was incredibly annoying, but I loved Jet. I feel like the author potentially rushed the back story of these two characters. She came from a predictable trash back ground and they only scratched the surface of what makes Jet so anguished.
