Seriously, this is probably the most delightful book I have read or will read this year! I loved Holly James’ writing style and found the story of Jack and Gemma’s journey out of a time loop to scratch every specific itch I have in a sweet magical realism romance! Gemma is very relatable and lovable. I deeply understood her family issues and the lack of confidence that would naturally accompany said issues. Jack is the perfect lovesick dream boy. They are both saving each other here and the desperate collision of hearts through time and space is palpable right off the page. The scientific explanation of what is going on within the “glitch” is nothing short of poetry. I highlighted the heck out of the professor’s explanation!
I mostly want to praise the pacing of this book. Just from the little I knew before starting it, I was worried about a painful repetition of days, but the author did a wonderful job of keeping it fresh every step of the way. I genuinely enjoyed reading every page and felt a bit bereft for it to end. I highly recommend this book to those in search of wonder, heart explosions and a chance at being rescued from the mundane linear timeline we could all use a break from!

I loved the time loop, but I’m not a fan of instalove so I didn’t feel the connection between our mc’s and definitely did not vibe with Gemma loving him after 3 pages. Cute though.
I liked the idea of the time loop and that it was coming from Gemma's perspective even though she wasn't the one "experiencing" the time loop. But I struggled to like Gemma. Like she was the worst.
She doesn't get along with her father because when she was 8 he had an affair and refuses to speak to him, put any effort into repairing their relationship, or allow him to put any effort into their relationship. But it's also his fault he hasn't jumped through enough hoops to fix the mess he created all those years ago. Breaking up a family because of an affair sucks, but the 20-ish years of resentment she held on to didn't seem to be the correct punishment for the crime. She's so upset that he's not up to date with what's going on with her life because she refuses to talk to him, but is also upset he's doing things that a rational person would see as attempting to keep her close, like aiding a guy he assumed was Gemma's boyfriend.
She has a run in with an employee at the airport where she rudely cuts in front of travelers and is shocked, appalled, and honestly awful to the employee who refuses to jump through hoops to make her own life better and doesn't seem to understand the standard she's holding everyone (family, ex's, coworkers, Jack, strangers in an airport) is insanely high in such a self-centered way that I wanted to quit the book. I also had a side annoyance with this scene also being streamed live for all to see, if this was reality I don't think Gemma comes off as someone people root for.
Jack explains to her that he's experienced the same day 147 times around, each time trying to get to know her better. But there's a quick conflict with the ex and instead of thinking "he's spent 147 days trying to make me fall in love with him" she thinks "he's spent 147 days trying to win me over so he has obviously decided that today he should give up and get back with his ex."
I liked the story and how Gemma grew and learned more things about herself that she was doing to hold herself back. I would have liked to learn more about Jack's life. But I would have rated the story as better if Gemma hadn't annoyed me so much.

Gemma is a radio producer who has been unhappy for a while. Her brother is working overseas and she has a strained - see: nonexistent - relationship with her famous father, and she has closed her heart off to love after being used by her last boyfriend. She meets Jack, a handsome TV writer... and keeps meeting him, and meeting him, for five months, but she can never remember him - until they kiss. On the other hand, Jack has been reliving the same day over and over, fully aware that he is stuck in a time loop, and he thinks the way out of it is for Gemma to fall in love with him too, all within the span of a single day.
I'm giving this book 3.5 stars rounded up! It took me a while to get into this story, but once I did, I did like it. Jack was so dreamy and I loved that we saw the journey Gemma went on both within her relationship with Jack, and the other men in her life. I do wish that there was a little more showing rather than telling when it came to Gemma and Jack falling for each other, but this was a sweet story with a unique plot and I'm glad I read it.
Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Group Dutton for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group Dutton for this ARC! This was a super cute and funny time loop trope romance. One of my favorite tropes and this was done SO well! I don’t like when time loops play the same day over and over and make the story repetitive. I enjoyed getting to see one day with Jack and Gemma and learning about how many times they’ve met before.
This was my first read by Holly and I really enjoyed it and would recommend it!

I feel like this was a bit of a missed opportunity. Not sure how a book can be deemed a time loop story when the entire book takes place in a single day without looping (excluding the prologue/epilogue). Also, Gemma was kinda annoying.
DNF @ 33%.
Thanks to Dutton for the copy of this book!
Unfortunately I think this author just isn’t for me. I liked her first book enough to give this one a shot, but it just didn’t hold my attention. Time loops are a hard trope.
