I love a good Groundhog Day book, and I really loved the twist in this one - Gemma (our main character) isn’t the one in the loop, and Jack (our love interest) has one day to convince her to love him back before she forgets him again. Racing around LA to talk to psychics and scientists, accidentally ending up internet famous, giving impassioned speeches about feelings, and attending a rock concert - this book had a lot of movement and action for a rom com, which made it super fun and thrilling. Obviously you know how it’s gonna end, but it’s a good time getting there.
Note: I received a free advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is by far not a perfect book. The premise of a time loop for a love story is one that I don't read too often. It's more of a sci-fi genre regarding the topic of a time loop. However, this is where the good plot of the story ends. There are many things wrong regarding its science, but I won't nitpick that because it's more of a romance novel. Now, I expected more because it's a time loop. I expected a lot of pushback from Gemma because, come on, if it were me, I wouldn't have come to being convinced so easily. I think that's where the story lost its greatness for me. Because everything was so easy for the characters, there were no fireworks or adversity. On top of it all, the characters don't have any personalities, especially Gemma and Jack being the main characters. There was no sense of humor or any emotion. Who are they really? I feel like I didn't get a sense of who they were. The premise was to get Gemma to remember and end the time loop. The story was empty for me.

Thank you to PENGUIN GROUP Dutton, Dutton and NetGalley for letting me read this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I've read a handful of 'groundhog day' type books and I quite enjoyed this one! Instead of the day playing over and over again, we're basically in the last version of the repeated day. We hear about the previous attempts Jack made to get out of the loop and why Gemma may be the key to breaking the loop. It does seem like quite a long day and so much is packed in it but it was enjoyable. Gemma and Jack have good chemistry. I think I would have enjoyed it more if there was more dual POV besides the very end.

I absolutely LOVED this one so much that after listening to the audiobook via the library, I went out and bought a copy for my shelves because I already know I'll want to re-read it. Time loops can be frustrating but this one handled it so well AND took an alternate take by being in the POV of the FMC who was not aware she was in the time loop vs. the MMC who is the one stuck and trying to stop it. I loved seeing her blinders start to fall away as she kept getting more and more Deja vu moments and how she started to fall for Jack, not knowing they've actually been falling in love for months. I also loved all Gemma's personal growth when it came to her career, complicated family dynamics and relationship fears. I couldn't put it down but at the same time didn't want it to end!

This book was a joy to read! While the first half was a bit slow, the characters are wonderfully written and created. They all are flawed from the start, but they grow in these areas throughout the book. Our supporting characters especially follow this path. I loved the friendship between Lila and Gemma and would love to see Lila be given more of her own storylines in a sequel!

The first third was quite good and the premise, promising. But then too much happened, it became messy, the author explained every single thing and it was just too much babying the reader. I was invested in the characters and wanted to know the end but the last two thirds were not too enjoyable. Too much happened in a single day and honestly, I just wanted to abandon the book when Lila started filming everything like the influencer that she is.
I was buying the time loop thing but there were so many impossible day to day things back to back that the author lost me.
